Did anyone have this when they were pregnant?
Restless leg syndrome. I have had a weird kind of buzzing (hard to describe) in my left leg for the past month. The only thing that makes it better is moving it. It drives me crazy, it is especially noticeable when I'm trying to relax or go to sleep. I was worried and thought that it was some strange side effect from my epidural last year as my left leg swole (sp?) up to almost twice the size right after my delivery. Anyway I saw a really brief commercial on t.v. this week about RLS and I did some research on-line and it turns out that this happens to some women in their third trimester and usually goes away 4 weeks after delivery ~ I hope they are right, it's the weirdest thing that has even happened to me. It that's what it is, I'll ask the Dr. at my next appointment. Anyone else have this?
My good friend had it during pregnancy. She felt bad for her dh because she was kicking him all night long! I think it's very common and nothing to be concerned about. My friend had it throughout her pregnancy, not just the last trimester though.
I had this during each of my pregnancies and my dh has this all the time. It is really bothersome if you haven't been very active during the day and some stretching right before bedtime helps sometimes. I think warm, but not hot, baths can be helpful also.
I had it during my pregnancy too. I get it every once in a while now, but it was bad with the kids! Cori has good advice on it, really it's difficult to get rid of.
I had it and it was annoying as all get out. It did go away after the baby although I have had it a few times since pregnacy but not all the time like I did. I recommend a little excercise or sex of some kind. That is what helped me.
Dr Gott says that putting a bar of soap under the fitted sheet helps, he doesnt know why, I thought it was pretty weird too but figured I would pass it on.
oh, yes, i remember that! It drove me crazy! i felt like i always needed to stretch out my legs! I read in "what to expect when your expecting" my bible at the time, that it was a normal thing. Nice warm baths sounds like good way to help with the the tingles!
Found this website for you, hope it helps http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/pregnancysleep/7549.html
Thanks Angela for the info. Warm baths do help although I'm now at 32 weeks so I'll have to stop those soon. I find that anything warm helps. There was good info on that link you provided like not lying down before you go to bed, I had no idea. Just put new sheets on the bed tonight, I'll try the bar of soap too LOL! I really had never heard of this before and had no idea that so many women who are pregnant suffer from this. I was starting worry it was somthing much worse.
My Dr told me it because the baby inside is messing with nerves that are not normally messed with which is cutting off the feeling in your legs. That everything is being pressed into odd places and the nerves are being affected. Which causes the twitching. I had it with both kids worse than I do now but I still get it once in a while. I take a few asprins and it usually helps to calm the nerves. Good luck.
