Double Strollers
Does anyone have one? Matt will only be 18 months when the next one arrives. I thought that maybe I could get by without a double stroller and just put the baby in the sling. However, a friend mentioned that there is no way I was going to want to wake the baby to put him in sling and she's right. I saw this stroller at Walmart "Safety 1st Two Ways Tandem 01-668 Twin Seat Stroller" and I thought that it looked like a good option however, it has received really poor reviews on Epinion.com. I was going to look for a 2nd hand Graco, but well considering the recall I guess I won't go that route. I really don't want to spend the money and I already have two strollers (a jogger and a small mall stroller), geez, why do we need a 3rd? The baby will be born in September, so it's not like we will be going out a lot over the winter as opposed to when Matt was born in the spring, I took him out all the time. Any advice or suggestions on strollers and what I should do?
My kids are 22 mos. apart and we had a double stroller when they were little. It was a God send! I highly recommend one. Don't forego the second hand Graco stroller just yet. It may not be involved in the recall, and if it is, it very well could be an easy fix. I believe there is a repair kit.
My kids are 2 years and 7 months apart. I did get a double stroller and loved it. We used it a fairly long time, well, maybe about 2 years. There are times that your older one just isn't going to want to walk as far as you do. It also was nice, when going to the beach for fireworks, since it could could hold so much stuff. I missed it, when we didn't have it anymore and the kids were still too little too carry a lot of stuff.
We had the side-by-side one for the boys, and it was wonderful! No one was "in front" and the seats reclined seperately. I loved it! The only drawback to it was if you were shopping in certain boutiques, etc. with narrow aisles --then it could be tricky. But it was great for walks, malls, and amusement parks, etc. My boys are 16 months apart.
This is the one I had: http://www.gracobaby.com/catalog/product.aspx?modelNumber=6551CLN&CategoryID=2
We had the front and back one. I loved it as the back reclined so the baby could sleep while my toddler sat in front and got to see everything. It was also easier to navigate through aisles than the side by side version. We used the double stroller a lot. The single stroller was used too when they got older and one would walk. Having both is a great thing!
I had a Graco DouGlider, and loved it, although the old ones were just recalled. The DuoGlider is tandem, and the rear seat reclines all the way. I also had an umbrella side by side, but it was much more difficult to use, IMO.
Ditto Crystal. I think we had the same stroller and I loved it. My kids were 22 months apart and then 26 months apart. We used it for about four years. I was really happy with it and felt like it was something I couldn't have done without. I hope you are able to find something that works for you. One word of caution, a friend bought a stroller that just had small seat and standing platform for her older child and hated it. I borrowed it once and was really frustrated with it. I wouldn't head down that route in your stroller quest.
I have and still use the Graco duoglider. It was the only one that I found where: both seats recline snack and drink tray for both seats umbrella for both seats HUGE basket at the bottom drink holder and a little storage with a lid next to the drink holder for mom I love mine
My dd was 18 months when ds was born. We had the Graco duoglider and it was wonderful! You may think you won't need it, but don't you think you will go to the mall with both little ones? We did that alot, just to get out of hte house. Plus you will need it next spring and summer to go for walks. It does cost a lot but it is worth it.
