Do you know what cheesecloth is?
I asked 4 different employees at a WalMart and only one had a vague idea what I was talking about, but had no idea where I could find it! LOL Does WalMart sell it? I looked for awhile, but didn't find it.
It's a think gauze type cloth used lots of time in pastry making. http://www.raglady.com/
You can get it at the grocery store. It's used for straining liquid from things like yogurt, cheese, etc.
LOL! I probably should have worded my post differently! I already know what it is and took for granted that others would too. I thought at least the employees in kitchenware would have known. I was just surprised that no one could help me find it because they didn't know what I was talking about - even after I explained it to them.
I know what it is but I can imagine there are alot of people that don't. I would think Walmart would have it.
I would look maybe near the canning supplies.
I have seen it in Home Depot in the paint department. It can be used for a variety of faux finishes.
I have also found it in Automotive! LOL! My grocery store has it, but I can't remember where exactly, now. I use it to strain soup and it's something I can't live without!
Talking about employees. Once I was looking for wedges of Parmesan cheese at the grocery store. I much prefer to grate my own cheese, for spaghetti, to buying the already grated stuff. The kid, wondered if I could just buy the stuff that was already processed! Uhhh, no. I did finally find it, but he was sure no help! I think they were out of the stuff I usually bought, but I did find it somewhere else.
I worked in the fabric dept. at Wal-mart for a while and we stocked cheesecloth back in the fabric department. You could buy it by the yard or in a 3 yard pack. I bet at my store no one else other than fabric associates could tell you where/what it was! We had a guy in charge of our household dept. who didn't know much about cooking!
