Had fun at horse camp
Here is Emily's account of her week at horse camp. She went all by herself and had a great time. She says she easily made friends and had lots of stories to tell! Here it is: This afternoon I got back from horse camp. It was really fun. On Sunday, we had a riding evaluation so they could decide which riding class to put us in. I rode a dun mare named Dancer in that. On Monday, we got little schedules. I had horse science first, then a riding lesson, and then needlework. hehe. On Monday, I rode a bay mare named Tinkerbelle who stepped on my foot after the lesson. It's fine now though. In the afternoon we rode bareback and I rode a chestnut gelding named Sommy. On Tuesday, I rode a chestnut gelding named Commander in the lesson and on the trail ride. When we were coming back from the trail ride, he started neighing and he trotted like 2 strides. lol On Wednesday I rode a little dark bay mare named Rosie. In the afternoon we switched riding styles (english people rode western and vice versa). So I rode a horse named Cocoa. On Thursday I rode Rosie again. In the afternoon we did horse sports. We kinda did barrel racing. hehe I rode a horse named Zoe for that. The power went out on Thursday so we went to the local pool. On Friday I rode a horse named Pippen. Since it was like 95 degrees outside, we went to the pool again. Then later there was a thunderstorm. 3 of the counselors are from Australia and one of them is from London.
Sounds like she had fun.
Gosh...that camp would have been my dream when I was younger!! I used to work at a horse ranch but never had time to ride that much! I was way too young I think. Sounds like she had fun though! And, when I opened this thread, I knew it was you!! I think I'm getting to know you and your daughters more and more...
sounds like she had a full week of fun.
Is this a Girl Scout camp? Sounds like she had a ball. What wonderful memories for her. Our GS camps usually feature counselors from all over the world, too. The girls love that. My DD is going into 4th grade and just did her first 1 night only overnight GS camp. She loved it so much that next year she wants to do the 2 day horse one and work her way up to what your DD did.
I don't think Emily could have handled a week of sleep-away camp, when she was in 4th grade. She did great this year. She went to sleepaway camp last year, with church friends. This time it was by herself. It was a private horse-camp, not affiliated with Girl Scouts.
forget the kids *I* would have liked to go Glad to hear she had a great time.
