What should we wear?
Christopher, Jimmy and I are getting family pictures done on Saturday. We have had pictures before, and they were ok, but not spectacular. What should we wear? I know some families coordinate colors, does that look nice? Or is it too cheesy? I don't want to completely match, so maybe we should have shirts on in the same color range? I just don't know! What do you think makes a good picture?
Coordinated colors look nice, or either all light, or all dark colors, depending on the type of background you might choose. I think if your clothes don't clash with each other, more attention is drawn to your faces. So go with the same color range, that would look best. One of our moms has a picture in her profile, where they all wore red or plaid shirts, and it's very attractive, and their faces really stand out. THIS is it - notice how their clothes don't *compete* with the faces?
I really like outfits that somewhat match. Cutest family picture I ever saw was one of my friends. They all had on khaki pants and denim shirt and bare feet! The pose was very casual, just like they were in their family room. Loved that picture!!
Our best family picture is with all of us wearing blue jeans and white shirts. We are posed in a very nontraditional casual pose and I just love the pic. My co-worker liked it so much (it's on my desk at work) that her family copied it.
I agree with you Karen, that is a nice family photo. I have a friend that they all wore jeans & nice white t-shirts (w/o pocket).
I say wear khaki bottoms and white tops or blue jeans and white tops.
Can't go wrong with that....
We took family pictures around Christmas time when DH was on leave and me and the boys all wore white turtle necks with blue jeans and Canny wore his uniform. We had a white background and the pictures turned out great. I couldn't have asked for any better. I was worried about the background being the same color as the shirts, but that turned out really nice. I would recommend that.
The next picture we take will be in khaki pants and white shirts and bare foot. I think that would be cute for you to do too.
We recently did a "Kids and Grandkids" portrait for my mother and all the women wore shirts in shades of green and the men wore shades of blue with jeans. It was semi-casual and it came out very nice. I think similar color families is nice and cohesive, not cheesy.
We did...khaki, denim shirts, and no shoes (just bc my DH forgot his dress shoes...this was before I knew I had to be his "mother" at times! LOL) But, you know, they were SO cute. Looked like we came out of a gap commercial. LOL
We just did ours (in Bio) and we all wore bright colored shirts, shorts and sandals. Do what you feel comfy in. I like the bare foot idea. Too bad you didn't post this 2 weeks ago. (before I did our pictures)!
I think quiet muted tones always look nice. We have done coordinating colors, we tend to have the boys all in the same shirt and then my dd contrasting, hubby and I match them. If you go for colors try a plaid for one group and a solid for another. I don't think you can ever go wrong with whites and khakis or denims.
let me try and post a photo of my kids
