Computer Help
Yesterday, Chris and I were trying to save some pictures of Rylee on a disc. Everytime we did it, it would say something like the disc is not a writeable disc. I thought that maybe there wasn't anymore room on the disc I was using so I tried a new one and it said the same thing. I KNOW that these are writeable discs, it just won't do it. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?
Was it a RW disc? It has to be a RW for data and picture storage. R's are for music and can't be rewritten.
It is a CD-R. I have 5 other ones that I have used of this same pack with pictures on them.
Have you tried rebooting your computer? Sometimes that's all it takes. The other possibility is you just have a few defective CD's - it happens. BTW, R's are not just for music - there ARE some made for music though. RW's are notorius for causing problems when rewriting to them, so we never use them.
You can write pictures to cd-r disks. We do it all the time! They don't have to be cd-rw. We don't buy the rw disks, since they are more expensive.
We use nothing but CD-R at work and at home for writing any type of files. We don't use the CD-RW because some machines don't read them and they seem to cause problems.
Wow! I've never had any trouble with rw's, but always had trouble with r's when writing pix. Can never continually add to a cd-r, and that's what I like to do. I rewrite every month when I do a whole system backup.I knew the r's weren't JUST for music, but thought that was recommended. Now you're scaring me! Maybe I should write all my current pix to r's as well?
Karen, we did try rebooting the system, but it still didn't work. I just tried 3 more differnt dics, and it still won't work. I am getting so agravated!
Hmmmmmmmmmm sounds like something more than the disks then..........wonder if it's a software issue? Deanna, I haven't noticed problems adding to a CD-R before...... wonder if THAT's a software thing too? I'm sort of clueless. LOL
You can't rewrite to a cd-r. They are for one time use. If you want to add or reuse, it has to be a RW. Perhaps your cd's are just faulty? You could go to your device manager and see if the burner is working properly. Will it read cd's?
It will read the CD's, I just can't save anything on them.
