Kate, How are the black flies?
I just came in from waiting at the bus stop with my daughter and they were horrible this morning. The bus driver was laughing because everyone was waving their arms around like crazy at each bus stop. We have had about a month of them so far and will probably still have month to go before they are gone. The worst part is the mosquitos are in full force now, too. I hope the black flies have left your area!
Thanks for asking, Meredith! They've been better the past two weeks. I still see them but I haven't been bitten in quite awhile. We can go outside now and not hide in the house at least!! They'll still fly around my head every once in awhile and I do the silly, panicked wave-your-arms-wildly dance, but they don't swarm anymore, thank goodness!! I'm SO sorry to hear they are still a scourge in your area!! They're quite the killjoy. Mosquitos haven't been bad yet, but they're due....
About two weeks after you posted this, I noticed several bright red bites on my neck. I have total sympathy for you now. Those things itch and sting like the dickens. I was so uncomfortable and self-conscious about them. They took quite a while to fade away too. I haven't seen any swarms of them and I'm really not sure where I got these bites but I sure hope I don't get anymore. Honestly, I'm just a *little* bit glad that you posted about them so that I knew what in the world I had all over my neck!
LOL, Tink! Sounds like they were quite plentiful this year and people like you and me experienced them for the first time! We were just SO lucky, eh??
