I feel HUGE!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive June 2005: I feel HUGE!
By Eve on Monday, June 6, 2005 - 10:47 am:

For all of you who have and are pregnant during the Summer months, God bless you! My feet are swollen! I feel huge! I can't find anything to wear! I bought some larger sized shorts and thought I could wear them all Summer, boy was I wrong! LOL! It looks like nothing but maternity from here on out! I even noticed my DH was staring at my stomach yesterday. He told me it's getting bigger! Aghh!

Ok, I'm just grumpy! Thanks for letting me vent!

I was pregant in the summer with Rylee, and I know exactly how you feel. It was miserable. I just went into the pool as often as I could. I was working at a daycare at the time and had to take the kids on field trips, in the hot hot sun. Tuesday's were awesome because we took the kids swimming.

{{{HUGS}}} Ty was born mid August and B mid June. I remember feeling very huge, and in fact, felt too big for my maternity clothes by this point. LOL!

By Missmudd on Monday, June 6, 2005 - 12:01 pm:

When I was prego w/ #3 I had to drive in rush hour traffic in a car that had no air conditioning. By the time I had baked on the freeway for an hour or more I would go home, get in my prego lady swimsuit and go sit in the pool for an hour just to feel sort of human again. If you can, do the same it will make you feel much better, even if people do LOOK at you :).

{{{{{{{{{EVE}}}}}}}}} I can relate! Jeff was born in September, and I went through the summer of 100+ heat index and high humidity. I had problems with swelling anyway, and the heat just made it that much worse. I looked like an elephant - felt like one too!

Try to stay cool, drink plenty of liquids, and watch your salt!!!!

By Ginny~moderator on Monday, June 6, 2005 - 12:57 pm:

My youngest was born in September. And to make it worse, the next door neighbor's very nice, helpful 18 year old daughter was out in the back yard in her size 6 bikini almost every day.

(((Eve)))
I had three babies in the summer (June, July, and August) and was pregnant with another one throughout the summer months (he was a Fall baby). I remember doing a lot of laying around in the air conditioning and spending as much time in the pool as possible.

Sarah was born August 4th. I was due August 31st. I was so glad I didn't have to wait out August and even though she was a month early, she was fine! There is a picture of me at the hospital, with this big grin on my face, because I knew that today, it was going to be all over!

Then we made sure the next time, that I wasn't at the end of the pregnancy, in the summer! I ended up getting pregnant in July my second daughter was born in March.

By Tink on Monday, June 6, 2005 - 02:01 pm:

Two of my kids were born during the summer (june and July) and I hated those last few months. I always wondered if the swelling and hot flashes would have been better if I'd had them in December. The middle of the pregnancy when you don't fit in the regular clothes and don't fill out maternity clothes always made me feel sooo awkward. Nothing fit right and I thought I just looked fat, rather than pregnant. {{{Eve}}} Stay as cool as you can and use this as an excuse to do as little as possible!

By Andi on Monday, June 6, 2005 - 03:10 pm:

Well Dylan was a January baby so I was very lucky but Taylor was a June baby and I remember how miserable I was!
Just have a nice relaxing summer and don't push yourself to do to much. I remember drinking ton's of water with Lemon....that was very refreshing and cooling.

Take care of yourself.

Oh, hugs Eve. I got pregnant in May of last year and was wearing maternity within a month. I was 12 wks before I even knew I was pregnant w/ DD. To top it off, we went thru three huricanes, 2 of which we lost A/C. I left DH at home to sweat it out, but I went to moms til we had electric back. Pregnancy is no time to "rough it" w/out electric LOL.

I got huge fast and it just kept growing. It felt so good to have him out of me.

Yeah it is hard to be pregnant in the summer. I have 3 summer babies, one in July, 2 in Aug. Last summer when I was pregnant with Faith, I spent alot of time in our pool, just floating around. That felt the best..and I got a nice tan to boot :)

I feel your pain. My 3rd dd was born 7/29 and she weighed 10lbs 2oz I REALLY was HUGE!!!!!

By Crystal915 on Monday, June 6, 2005 - 10:11 pm:

(((Eve))) I was pregnant with my June babies in spring in South FL, then early summer in TX, so I totally understand how you feel!! I LIVED in Motherhood shelf-bra tank tops, and shorts. I spent time walking around the mall when I wasn't on bedrest, and occasionally floating in the pool which is AWESOME!

{{{Eve}}} I can relate, Brett and Alissa were both September babies and both times the summer was so hot! Hang in there kiddo:)

By Jilly on Sunday, June 12, 2005 - 09:01 pm:

Thinking of you, Evie! Soon enough you and I can be putting our feet up and trying to relax - together! :)

By Melanie on Sunday, June 12, 2005 - 09:35 pm:

Griffin was August 2. But the climate here in CA was nothing compared to when I was pregnant with Alec out in RI, even though he was born in December. I feel for ya!!!

Welcome back, Jill!! :)

By Pamt on Sunday, June 12, 2005 - 11:24 pm:

I had a March and December baby, so no big awful pregnancy during the summer months. I think I timed them both just right. Although I vividly remember breastfeeding my one month old at the Downtown Arts Festival in Ft. Worth in April and him just sticking to me because it was so darn hot!! Breastfeeding in hot weather (esp. in public because you have to keep covered up) is the worst!

By Eve on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 07:35 am:

LOL, Pam. That is really funny!

Thanks, everyone. I feel like such a complainer! LOL! I do feel a lot better after my last Dr's appt.--He said I might feel more aches and pains this time around! Pheew! I thought I was losing my mind. I feel like I am constantly sore on some part of my body!

Thanks for the comments--it's nice to know you all have been through it.:)
