My wedding place is scheduled to be demolished......
Over 100yrs old, Belleview Biltmore Hotel made the "11 endangered historic places" list. This incredible building may come down only to be replaced w/ horrible condos. I was so sad when they announced this not too long ago, but I am hopeful that making this list will save it. Here is the link w/ a few more details and pictures. If you are so inclined, and are truly interested in protecting the buildings of our past, there is a place to "take action" by sending an email to those people w/ the power. Bea, I thought you might be interested in checking this out just because you enjoy history so much. The link: http://www.nationaltrust.org/11Most/2005/belleview.html Here is another link. It contains photos. You can just click on "HOME" if you want to view the rest of that website. link for broadband: http://www.savethebiltmore.com/BiltmorePhotos_Broad_Band.htm Link for dialup: http://www.savethebiltmore.com/BiltmorePhotos_Dial_Up.htm
Here are the links to just click on: National Trust Broad Band Link Dial Up Link Dana, just put \ link {web page, title of link} only without all the spaces! There is a practice page somewhere around here....
And, Dana, I just wrote to the owners...this is SO sad!!!
Dana, what a beautiful building. Is it in good shape as the pictures show? I hope it is saved.
I know exactly how you feel Dana!!! Chris and I celebrated our one year anniversary there. I really do not want it to shut down.
Thanks Mrsheidi!
It is beautiful and in excellent shape! Why don't they just build on the rest of the acreage - 22 acres is a lot and use the hotel for a clubhouse, community house, hotel for people visiting the condo residents, place for the residents to have events ... The list goes on. Tearing it down is really a crime. Ame
I tried to write the owners but the website was having technical difficulties so I will try again later.
