Can someone help me...PLEASE?
I was cleaning this morning, and decided to move this tin box. It was kind of stuck to the crpaet, so I pulled, and I saw why it was stuck. Well, last Hurricane SEason, our house flooded, and we must have put the box back before the carpet was 100% dry. Now, I have a rust stain on my carpet. I want to get it off before Chris gets home. Does anyone have any advice? I am so tempted to leave it there and pretend that I didn't see it, and let him discover it. *EG*
I would try Oxiclean with warm water, but in just a small area first, perhaps make a bit of a paste and let sit awhile. Good Luck Rayanne, what a horrible mess. Try doing a search on the internet for removing rust stains from carpet, you might come up with some other ideas or call a carpet cleaning company for the best advice.
I would call a professional. I'm not sure Oxi-clean is strong enough to remove it, and rust can bleed.
Tip King
Be careful with oxyclean, if you have any wool in your carpet, it may bleach the colour out - happened to me.
Rust and oxi...not a good combo, just from the words itself. Rust is caused by oxidation of iron...might make it worse.
I would never tackle rust on my own. I would call a professional for sure on this one.
Well, I called Stanley Staemer, and I asked them if they knew what I could use to clean it myself? They told me to get this stuuf called Whink Rust Remover. I am going to try and find some tomorrow, hopefully, and we will see what happens. 6 ounces. Leader and best seller for over 50 years. Convenient liquid formula requires no scrubbing; instantly removes rust stains from colorfast fabrics and carpet, as well as white sinks and toilets.
