Cat box?

My father recently asked me to watch his cat while he went away. Well, needless to say he decided that he wanted to give my daughter his cat. It is a Sphynx, very expensive, hairless cat! this cat is messy! I mean litter gets everywhere.
What catbox do you have and does it keep odor under control? He is so fun, but I hate a litter box!!!! LOL :)

We just got a kitten and he took to the box right away. After having a dog for 2 years this is a joy. So much easier, no problem at all. I just scoop out every day, and when its needed (you can tell) dump it all, wash it out and put new in.
Just vaccum as needed.

you can get a covered litter box to help keep in the litter. it looks like a little house. We have one that has high sides, it has two pieces that snaps on over each other. we got it at Walmart. it helps keep in the litter. You do have to scoop everyday to help keep odor down. get clumping litter. we like arm and hammer scoopable brand.

I have a covered box as well. It actually has a little charcoal filter. I think it's called a Booda Box - but it's so old, I don't remember.
I use Fresh Step Crystals. It's the best litter I've ever used. No mess, no smell, no tracking and easy clean up. It can be expensive, so get a big tub from a BJs or a Costco.
Enjoy the kitty - you have the best of both worlds - a cat, but no cat hair or furballs to clean up!

You can also get a rubber mat that goes under the litter box to catch litter that gets "tossed" out and tracked out on kitty's feet. It's kind of like a boot mat. We also scoop daily and use Arm&Hammer litter box deoderizer powder once/week or so.

Enjoy your new friend:)

I use those really deep Rubbermaid-type storage containers. You can get the equivalent at Dollar General for just $2.00. Because they're so much deeper than regular litter boxes, the cats can't spray litter everywhere. Also, they hold much more litter, which means less changing (just scooping, if you use the clumping litter). I line them with Hefty trash bags -- sliding the box into the bag so it covers the bottom as well as the interior -- so I can just pull the bag off and the litter stays inside as the bag turns inside-out.

We also use a plastic dish pan instead of a traditional litter box. It is much deeper and less mess.

Thanks for all the great ideas and advice. I actually went to Petsmart and seen some really big, extravgant ones.LOL
I'm cheap so the rubbermaid container sounds right up my alley... :)

I have 2 cats. We bought one of the electric cat boxes. I hate cleaning the cat box, but this one cleans itself. I just emepty it about ones a week. It also works well on the order too.

Our old lady often stands in her box with her butt over the edge, and goes over the edge. We bought large plastic-backed surgical pads and use them under her box. They also trap the litter from being tracked around and are disposable.

I spray some Fabreeze on her litter and mix it a bit. It really cuts the odor
