Anyone own a juicer or a smoothie machine??
I am considering buying a juicer. I have no clue where to start looking. I want one that is durable, leaves the pulp in, has a large capacity and is not a pain to clean. Do any of you own one??
I have a Jack La Lane one that's not too bad. It cleans up ok, but it does not leave in any pulp. My husband got me a magic bullet which has a juicer attachment, but I have not used it yet. Happy juicing. Ame
I don't have a juicer. My blender works fine for making smoothies.
I see that Magic Bullet infomercial all the time. I am dying to know if it really chops that well. I use my blender too.
I've been researching a bit, and I'm reading that centrifugal and high speed juicers heat the juice from the speed or oxidization becomes an issue. I'm looking for something that leaves the pulp, but want to get the most benefits from the juice. Also want one that can juice vegies. Jen is very into this stuff, and I am becoming more and more interested in it. I just find that when you start searching online, all the info is overwhelming and confusing. I prefer word of mouth recommendations, that's why I posted here. Any others??
I have a Moulinex, but it leaves the pulp in. I think all juicers do. I've used the pulp in baking and soups. I also have a Vita Mix, and it's the most amazing thing I've ever owned!! You could juice a steak!!Seriously, it would grind anything into a thin liquid! You can make soup in it, but also ice cream. I use it all the time. The drawback - big money! Still, a juicer could cost you $200 and you can only make juices in it. This would be closer to $400, but it's well worth it.
I read that there is one that just like you put the fruit in and push doen, than you follow it with water and push down and it cleans it. a blender really doesn't do the same thing. I think if you go look you will find out which ones are good. I think a good juicer will run $$$ but if you are going to use it, it would be worth it.
Kaye, I believe you're talking about the Vita Mix, because they advertise it cleaning like that. It's true - just add water and a bit of dish soap, turn it on and presto! http://vitamix.com/
That's what I want, the pulp left in. I'll have to check out the Vita Mix. Thanks.
I have one of those old fashioned glass plate looking juicers. It was my great grandmothers. I don't think I have ever used it but she sure did. I also have the vita mix blender. It makes (cooks) soup and grinds up coffee beans. I love it.
I just re-read my first post, and I said most juicers leave the pulp in, including mine. I meant to say that they do NOT leave the pulp in, and that's why I use it in soups and muffins.
LOL Marcia. When I was researching them online, I noticed that many (most ?) do NOT leave the pulp in, and I LIKE the pulp, and want the nutritional value that is in it.

Still had to clean the silly thing. But you could clean it it about 7 minutes. I sort of remember the kitchen counter getting alittle messy for some reason.
