Our vacuum isn't picking up ANYTHING...so, we're in mounds of dog hair with a crawling baby.
Ugh.
Any good ones out there?

Before buying a new one, do you happen to have a vacuum repair shop nearby? It could simply need a clean out and tune up.

Whatever you get, don't get a Fantom. I had one that lost suction often just from sucking up Cheerios. God forbid! LOL! The vacuum repair shop refused to work on Fantoms because apparently they're very hard to work with.

I have central vac but also have an old Hoover canister. It's at least 10 yrs. old, quite possibly older and has been my old faithful! LOL! My central vac recently clogged and I was happy to have my Hoover as a back up.

I think Consumer Reports has ratings on vacuums. Worth looking into.

I agree...check out your vac first. Ours stopped picking things up and all that was wrong with it was that a belt broke inside of it. We ended up fixing it for less than $10.

I just purchased a Rainbow Aquamate Vacuum. I have never EVER seen anything like it. It is amazing! Works for everything and the best part is that it all filters in water, no bags!

We got a Dyson several months ago and we're happy with it. There are lots of good ones out there, but most are outrageously $$$$$. The Dyson wasn't too bad and it works well for us.

I have the Dyson Purple Animal and LOVE it. I have never had anything that picks up pet hair so well!
