We will be leaving tonight for a hospital in TX where he will be having back surgery. He has opted for the microscopic surgery as opposed to the fusion he was originally going to have. This will leave a very small scar, and is much more of a minor surgery than the fusion. They will pretty much clean off the dead parts of his disk and leave the rest of the good disk intact. The only downside to this is that he *could* have to have the fusion down the road in 10 or 20 years if the disk deteriorates further, which it probably will. But for now, we feel this is the best route to go.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We will be home this weekend, and I will let you all know how it went.

Hi everyone. We are home now. The surgery went smoothly, and Mike is resting and taking it easy. I'm worn out! Holly, no the surgery was done in a civilian hospital about 5 hours away in TX. I want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes - I love you all!

When I get a minute, I'm going to be posting about our week from hell starting from before the surgery and ending Friday night.
