Help!! Laundry problem
I bought a new swim suit this spring, it's a white tankini with brown leather trim. tankini It's that one with a different bottom. I wore it ONCE!! and hand washed it. It looked dirty when I unpacked, so I threw it in a load of laundry that I was soaking over night. I woke up and washed it, and it's dingy and looks AWFUL!! I'm totally upset because it's brand new and wasn't cheap (at least not when I bought it!!). I should have known better than to buy white, but it was so cute!! Grrrr! What can I do to brighten it? It says Non-chlorine bleach as needed. I don't even know what non-choline bleach is... I just use Clorox on my whites, and even then only when really needed! Any suggestions?
A non-chlorine bleach says "non-chlorine" on it. Chlorine is the stuff in bleach that will eat up elastic, among other things. Even Clorox makes a non-chlorine bleach. Just read the label. But, if you use the non-chlorine bleach once and it still looks awful, I would take it back to the store and, if necessary, write to the manufacturer. My guess is that the brown leather trim ran a bit and discolored the whole thing. If you got it from Victoria's Secret, they are a large chain and value their reputation. They may well "step up to the plate" if you complain.
Have you tried oxy-clean? Ginny is probably right about the leather trim running. Sorry! I hate it when that happens to something new that you really like!
Oxy-clean is what I soaked it in last night. I usually soak anything with a stain in that, and since the suit needed to be washed I just threw it in. I'm going to call VS if it doesn't come out. I spend a great deal of money with them, so I'm hoping they'll do something for me. If not, I guess I'll chalk it up to experience.
