Child Found Dead in Car
A mother is in jail in Jackson County Monday afternoon charged with
second-degree murder in the death of her own son.

Two 9-1-1 calls were made about the death of 8-year-old Devon Gibson.

Asheville Police found the little boy's body in the back seat of his
mother's car at the Woodcroft Apartments Sunday evening.

Investigators say 36-year old Michelle Gibson lived in Asheville and put
Devon in the trunk while she worked in a nursing home in Jackson County.

Deputies with that sheriff's department charged her with second-degree
murder and 2 counts of felony child abuse.

NEWHALL, Calif. -- A California woman has been arrested on suspicion of child cruelty after the California Highway Patrol found nine people crammed inside her car, including two children in the trunk.

Lavern Dunlap was pulled over Friday night. Another driver had reported seeing a woman closing the trunk of her Toyota Corolla with two children inside as the vehicle sat parked on the shoulder.

The officer discovered a 15-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl in the trunk, four children in the back seat, an adult in the front passenger seat with a child on her lap and Dunlap behind the wheel. The officer says no one was wearing a seat belt.

Dunlap was booked on suspicion of child cruelty and was released. She is scheduled to appear in court next month.

That is just awful. How could someone ever do something like that ever! That makes me just sit and wonder in amazement what people think something and how certain things can happen in this world. And how did the 15yr old agree to do this at 15 no way was someone putting me in a trunk!!

Absolutely disgusting. I just don't know how people can hurt our special little innocents....kids! Us grown-ups are the only ones they can count on. I personally think both of these people should be locked up and unable to reproduce again, but they likely won't, or at least won't get nearly enough time in jail for it. Grrrrr...
