Did you have cravings while pregnant?
I've been craving vinegar. It's so weird. So, this afternoon I had cucumbers in vinegar with lots of salt. I'm also cravings lots of fruit. What did you crave?
Fruit and cherry twizzlers...DH went to 3 stores to find the twizzlers late one evening!! Too cute!
Chineese food (egg rolls and sweet and sour sauce) and Mexican (cheap taco bell with hot or fire sauce) or good mexican meat & cheese buritto's. Same thing with both kids.
Once i craved Frosty's from Wendy's. We were on a road trip. The first Wendy's was to crowded, the second was closed for repairs, i finally got it at the 3rd one we stopped at. I also craved salt and vinegar potato chips and banana and butter sandwiches!
With ds pickles dipped in peanut butter...dh almost lost it. With dd ANYTHING with cherries.
Spaghetti....lots of spaghetti!!!!
fresh fruit with ds pizza and black and white frappes with dd cottage cheese w/raisins and sunflower seeds with dd #3
Citrus fruit, constantly. Also, for a short time I craved any kind of processed cheese - Cheez Whiz, KD, Kraft singles. I never EVER eat stuff like that! In the grocery store I would pick up the packages, read the ingredients and just couldn't bring myself to buy them. Then one day I visited my parents, and lo and behold, a jar of Cheez in their fridge. I had one slice of toast with CW and I was cured.
Milk! With ds #2 I couldn't get enough milk. I can't tell you how many times I got up at 2:00 am just to have a glass.
Onion dip. Ben and Jerry's Choc Fudge Brownie ice cream. (Not both at the same time!!) Sharp cheddar and tuna at the end of my pregnancy.
Fresh tomatoes and fruit flavored popsicles. I ate a half box a day in December and January. I absolutely could not stand chocolate while I was pg although I am normally a chocoholic.
I usually had more food aversions than cravings but for a while with first dd I loved frozen peas mixed with rice.
DS 1-Chips and salsa (good thing we lived in TX!) and jelly donuts which I normally don't really like DS 2-Fresh peaches which would normally be in my list of least favorite fruits
DD#1 Taco Bell DD#2 Twinkies and Tasty Kakes (butterscotch krimpets) DS too busy with 2 toddlers to remember!!!!
I craved lemons and cucumbers with salt. I craved hot sauce, and put it on everything. No wonder I had heartburn!
with my dd, it was definitely spicy foods, especially boneless chicken wings! hot peppers! Also PB&Js could not get enough of them One day i wanted a hotdog, and i hate hotdogs! that was the one craving i did not indulge in! LOL
I craved lemons. I bought a bag of small lemons every day, peeled them like an orange and covered them in salt. I ended up using salt substitute, and then had to fight of my craving because my teeth were getting chalky. I also craved shrimp. The funny thing is that my son's favorite things are lemons and shrimp. Funny, huh?
With my first pregnancy, it was McChicken sandwiches and strawberries. We bought them by the crate! It was crazy. With second, before I realized I was pregnant, I kept craving Arby's roast beef sandwiches. I HATE Arby's anything! Period. Couldn't figure it out. Also, I craved radishes. Had to eat half of a big bag a day. Followed by Rolaids because I had awful heartburn with both pregnancies. The only times I have ever had heartburn was while I was pregnant! Also wanted strawberries with him.
Fudgesicles, mac and cheese with hot dogs cut up in it, fruit and McDonalds big macs. I don't even like McDonalds!! LOL Never cut hot dogs up in my mac and cheese before or after pregnancy. LOL
First pregnancy I craved FOOD! Almost anything would do, I ate all the time. This pregnancy, pineapple and lemons. I can't get my muffins to taste lemony enough. Oh and chocolate - lots of it. I think this one is a girl - will know tomorrow.
I craved Taco Bell and Slurpies my whole pregnancy with Rylee.
Lemons, Banana Sandwiches, Pickles with Nesquik Chocolate Syrup, Peanut Butter Sandwiches with Green Olives and Mayo, French Fries with Bleu Cheese dressing and lots of pasta. I had *strange* cravings!
First it was Chinese food, but then we had it one time and my craving for it left and was replaced by pizza, which I had until he was born.
With Dylan I craved Carrot Cake, Lemon Cake and lots of fruit. With Taylor it was Mexican food, fresh fruit and Peanut Butter and Honey sandwiches.
with Jack - Fried Green Tomatoes with Luke - Salads with eggs and LOTS of cheese
With Sami, it was Peanut butter on crackers, bread, apples, bananas, bagels, peanut butter on anything that isn't too weird. With Seth, it was fresh fruit but most of my pregnancy was during the fall and winter. My guilty pleasure? Fruity pebbles! I'm not sure how he survived on that for nine months. I also ate NO meat while pregnant with him. I just couldn't stand the smell or thought of it. With Bella, all I wanted was ice cream. It didn't matter what flavor or if it was on a stick, in a cone, or a cup. Just lots of ice cream. Amazingly enough, I only gained 16 lbs with that pregnancy.
PB&J sandwiches for a while, then tons of salad!!
This one: Lemons and lemonade.Fresh cherry tomatoes and sliced cucumbers with italian dressing. Steamed green beans! With my first it was all the above as well as Ak-Mak crackers, like a box a day(his favorite now). Also In-and-Out Burger. Hot fudge sundaes with whippped cream and nuts on top.(for both) I crave vinegar when I have Pms as well as pregnant, as a lot of women do and have been known to drink a shot of apple cider vinegar straight. There is a reason. Vinegar detoxifies the blood and helps eliminate excess fluids, which is why you crave it when your bloated.I also heard or read somewhere that it helps with muscle tension and cramping. Are you craving acidic fruits, like lemons too? The whole pickles and ice cream thing is so true!
Boxzgrl, I think you have the oddest of all the posts. Most of that stuff sounds pretty gross #1 girl: all fresh fruits and veggies, 2 egg McMuffins each morning, peanuts, orange juice and I started eating beef after who knows how many years of not eating it. I savored ALL food and thought mealtimes were the best invention ever! #2 boy: hated food! The healthier the more I hated it. Could handle eating tomato soup. For the first time since highschool (that is 25yrs ago) I could manage eating a McDonald's cheese burger, but only 1 a day. Near the end of pregnancy I wanted Slushies, Dorritos and misc junk food. I could barely stand eating veggies and fruit, my favorite foods in "regular life". Was so greatful I enjoyed them again the minute I delivered. Ive been craving spinach ever since and have eaten it lots since.
Oh good! I don't feel so bad for having salt and vinegar chips and chocolate milk together last night! LOL! I have a terrible taste in my mouth all the time and I read that salt and vinegar chips would help dry my mouth out a bit and get rid of the bad taste. It sort of worked. LOL! Last couple of weeks it was root beer and cheesecake. Just so strange! LOL!
With my dd I craved Hungry Jack Instant Mashed Potatoes, Country Time Lemonade in the can (it HAD to be in the can and very cold), and McDonalds fish sandwich. Funny thing was that I didn't like any of those things before my pregnancy and I haven't liked them since. With ds it was sushi and Publix Italian subs with jalapenos, bell peppers, and black olives. I had a major meat aversion during my second pregnancy and the only meat I ate was the fish (yes raw!) in sushi and the deli meat on the sub.
With my first I craved chili cheese fries. Had them about three times a week. And, with my second it was Coke, had to have it all the time.
With my first it was popsicles. Near the end I ate a box a day (at 3 bucks a box). But I threw up everything, the popscicles stayed down most of the time and if I ate after having one it was only a 75% chance I'd puke. (only 9 pounds weight gain, baby was 8lbs1oz) With the second it was icees, pretty much the same reasoning, the cold really helped me with nausea. Some people have ms the first 3 months, I go the whole time. the last one I didn't crave much. But boy could I eat, i was always hungry. I love going to olive garden during their never ending pasta special, yummm! Melissa, i eat ff with blue cheese dressing..LOL
Wasabi and horseradish on EVERYTHING!!!! And red meat, which I really never ate!! That's all I wanted!
With both of mine it was crab legs, crab legs and more crab legs!! We would go to "All you can eat" places and I would eat 4-5 platefuls. Also with #1 I ate a Dairy Queen Oreo Blizzard almost daily. With #2 I ate Zero's Pepperoni Subs.
Dels frozen lemonade, watermelon. Cold things like popsicles.
Bean burritos with no red sauce with lots of onions from Taco Bell and cheetos.
Oh my craving, with dd it was peppermint candy. But ds he had his own craveings it seemed that every trimester it was somethign different . for the first three months it was Wendy's double cheese burgers, then 4 to 6 months it was viniger, I was putting viniger on everything even on my pumkin seeds then it was crabs and shrimps with butter, finally the last 2 mohts it was ice cream anythingn cold no piticuliar ice cream but as long as it was cold I wanted it, frosty's,sundae's,slurpees, ice cream cones, you name it it was cold I wanted it. I was even a little concerned about this obsession that I asked the doctr did she think that maybe I was dehydrated. I was going every evening after picking the kids up from school(my ds and church member some from daycare) these kids got tired of ice cream that they asked me to stop buying it for them.
1st one- McDonalds Cheeseburgers, they couldn't be from anywhere else, and salt. 2nd one- I discovered Chili cheese dogs with mustard, onion and sauerkraut. In the beginning I craved lemons and vegetables. Throughout the whole pregnancy I couldn't eat pineapple or chocolate.
