Any NASCAR Fans?
I am so excited. Last year with the new baby I had to miss going to MIS for the June/August races. 1st time I have missed a race in 10-15 yrs. I am so excited we have a sitter for the weekend in June and are going just me and Rich. He is leaving in the motorhome on Wednesday and I am riding down with my dad on Friday AM. (Dad leaves Friday afternoon after qualifying. A big group goes just on Friday for the day every year.) We will be there until Monday morning. My brother is coming down on Saturday night after he races and he is bringing Timmy with him. So Timmy will be there for the major race on Sunday and Father's Day plus I get the bonus of some mommy/daddy alone time for 2 whole days!!!! I am so excited. I haven't had any child free time in so long I will be lost! NOT!!! I just hope we have warm weather and dry. GO RUSTY!!! #2!!!!!
I love going to the races. We are gearing up to go to Pocono on June 12, and then we will go again on July 24th! I am also hoping the weather is nice for the June race. Its always a fun time! You will not know what to do without the kids for 2 days, but I am sure you can figure something out!! LOL GO #8
I love Carl Edwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go #99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris likes Jamie McMurray #42
I'm a #9 Kasey Kahne fan myself, but I am SO jealous!! BTW, on my drive to KS, I stopped at a gas station across the higway from the Texas Motor Speedway. I asked the kid working if the drivers ever came in while in town (They had ever Bud/Dale Jr. ad possible!!) and he said a couple, including Rusty Wallace had been in before.
I am a HUGE nascar fan. I used to hate racing, and just about went crazy every weekend while my husband watched it. But then Kevin Harvick caught my eye in 2001 when he first took over for Earnhardt, Sr. and I noticed myself paying more attention to where he was in the race, etc. Before I knew it, I was a bigger fan than my husband! And what is so weird is that I never could stand Big E (who my husband liked), but then I took such a strong liking to Kevin (hence my username: 29 is his number). Now my husband is a Jr. fan, but he also likes Kevin. We have met him a couple of times, and been to the race at Bristol a few times. We also like Carl Edwards. He's going to go far. He is doing so well in the Cup series. Also, wasn't it great to see Kasey finally get his first win in the Cup series after so many 2nd place finishes! I almost cried right along with him! Tonya....I hope you guys have a great time at the race! Enjoy your "alone" time!
Adena, I wasn't ever a fan either until last year. Nate grew up in Indy, and when he'd watch the races I'd say "Hello? They're driving around in a CIRCLE!!" Now I'm totally hooked! I was jumping up and down when Kasey won, trying not to yell since the kids were in bed. I taught the kids to say "Gooooo Kasey!!", since Nate is a Jr fan, his dad is a Newman fan, and his mom likes Gordon. (Blech) I gave birth to them, they will cheer for my driver!! LOL
Where in Michigan do you live? I am in Grand Rapids. We like NASCAR too. DH has been to MIS but I haven't yet.
We are in Taylor. 2 minutes from the airport. I love Rusty Wallace and have been a fan of his since I was 2 (for 25 yrs) he is retiring this year so I cannot decide who I want to go after next either Carl Edwards or Kasey Khane. At first I thought Kasey but I have been watching Edwards this year thinking it might be him. It is still a toss up whoever it is I will be a diehard until he retired too. Crystal the oval to me is boring in a sense but I was raised around auto racing but mine wasn't circle it is the Figure-8. My dad and uncle did it and now my little brother does it. They go in the 8 pattern and meet in the middle 2x in 1 lap it is awesome.
Tonya, what level is that kind of track? I've only watched Nextel/Busch series, and a little IRL. It's way cool that your family races!! Nate's little brother (20 years old) had the opportunity to work on an Indy team, and PASSED IT UP!! We could have strangled him for that one! Personally, I dislike the road tracks and such, but I'm like most Nextel Cup fans... give me a short track night race any day!! As far as Edwards or Kahne, Carl is just the new Kasey, the phenom rookie of this season. I would cheer for him, but he knocked Kasey out of first on the last lap a couple races ago. LOL He lost me on that move!! ;)
It is just a hometown track for us we race in Flatrock, MI - Toledo, OH and 2x a yr in Indiana. Here are a few of the websites for the 2 tracks www.arcaracing.com go to Flatrock Speedway once you are on the main page and you can see a picture of the track and the other is www.speeddrome.com that is where we go 2x a yr. Rich worked for a Busch team for several years when we were split up and the only reason he stopped was because he wanted to be with us more when we got back together.
