Work is going good.
I'm loving it, really! I finished my 3rd day today. It was my first "real" day since the first 2 days were about safety training and store policies. I had to learn the regular cashier before going to the pharmacy so I can move at a fast pace. I carded one guy buying cigarettes and made a comment that I was surprised that he was younger than me since he looked to be about in his mid 20's. He said he thought I looked 19. He was in shock when I said I had been married almost 4 years and have a 2 year old, lol. I guess that will benefit me when i'm 40! Kaitlyn is doing well. She still cries each morning but seems as if she's had a ball all day when I pick her up. My legs are sore and my throat hurts from talking all day but I guess thats expected after not working for 2 1/2 years. Just thought i'd update you gals.
That's great news. I'm sure it's a huge adjustment for you. Glad everything is going smoothly! Keep up the great work! How long are your shifts? What are your new duties? If someone works in, say a Wal-MArt pharmacy, do they have to be certified as a technician? Just curious
I'm glad it went well for you. I started working last summer after being home for 4 years and it was an adjustment, but my favorite part is being with adults. Sometimes I answer the phone at home like I do at work! How many hours do you work? I am part time, about 25 nrs or so, its pretty flexible.
Great News!
I'm training right now so my shifts are between 6-8 hours but starting in June I will have 4 hour shifts, working 4-5 days a week. I'm definitely not ready for full time work, lol. My main job for now is pharmacy cashiering and ensuring great "customer service" (making sure customers are in and out of the pharmacy in a timely manner with the right drugs and have no questions to ask) and when it is a bit slower i'll be doing my technician training. You don't *have* to be certified to work in a pharmacy but it's very hard to get hired without the certification. They actually had to hire me on as a "pharmacy clerk" since I wasn't certified but I do technician duties too. Hopefully when I take my certification test in July, i'll see a jump in my pay and see the lovely words "CPhT" beside my name, lol!
Advice--get good shoes and/or good insoles. And get one of those foot massager/soaking things. Your feet will love you. I was 25 when I started my first pharmacy job and was on my feet all day. My best friend gave one for Christmas. I love her to this day for that thing.
