How many pets do you have????
We have three cats, two female tortie shells, Silky and Daisy. And one male who is orange and white. Also we have two dogs, both are miniature doxies, the male is five, he is a smooth short haired red doxie whose name is Tommy Boy. And the other is a black and tan long haired doxie, she is almost a yr, and her name is Lucie Lou. All pets are kept indoors and we are getting our yard fenced in within the next ten days. So, how many pets do you have? What are your living accomindations (sp), apartment, house, etc. What made you decide when enough was enough as far as the number of pets you have? All of my pets have their shots, are spayed and neutered, well with the exception of my youngest doxie, she is due to get spayed, we are going to get her done next month. We have really animated pets, they all have their own personalities. We are thinking of adopting another doxie, she is a rescue, you can view her on drna.org. This was completely by accident that we are considering this at this time. Oh her name is Sybil. So, please help ladies, how many do you have and when did you decide enough was enough??
Only one dog here, Rusty a 9 month old Jack Russell and one is enough with him, the little spitfire that he is. LOL Rusty
We don't have any right now. We have had guppies, but after the last one died, I didn't get any more. Lately, dh and I have been talking about getting a dog. But, we know we will be moving in the next year or so, so we want to wait until we get settled to make the final decision.
1 quaker parrot, 1 parakeet, 1 kitten, 13 fish.
2 big female dogs 1 is a golden retriever mix, the other is a chow/doberman mix. We had 3 dogs for around a week when a dalmation showed up at our door. That was too many. Two is perfect for us. Chow is 14 and sadly this may be her last year. We will get another dog if she goes to doggy heaven. 4 cats all male. I have had more and I have had less. I am a sucker for stray cats so they seem to seek me out. We have a house with a large back yard and a pet door. The cats go out but all but 1 stick at home. 1 is still acting like a stray. Yvonne
We have two strictly indoor cats. We were up to 5 at one time but DS developed asthma, which we learned was triggered by a cat allergy. We found homes for the kittens but were unable to find suitable homes for our senior cats. Thankfully DS had done well with precautions, however, once our current two cats are gone we won't be getting any more. If DS's asthma/cat allergy wasn't an issue, I wouldn't do more than 5 cats. We have a good sized house but I wouldn't want to care for more than that. All our pets are strictly indoors and fully vaccinated. It gets costly to properly care for multiple pets.
2 Dogs 3 cats 2 iguanas We live in a townhouse with a small backyard. We (I) decided enough was enough when I realized DH would bring home the animals and they would end up being 90% my responsibility. They are all fixed and current on shots and get check ups once yearly.
We have just a hermit crab. Dh has asthma and allergies which prevent us from having any furry family members.
1 dog Wilber a Cocker Spaniel he is 5 had him since he was 8 weeks. 1 bird a parakeet his name is Slick had him for 2 yrs. I want a turtle hopefully soon and Rich want an American Bulldog next summer when the neighbor breeds theirs.
we have 2 female cats that are indoor pets, one fraya she is a short hair cat but thinks she is a dog lol she loves to play ball she will fetch and bring it back to you.than we have sapphire, she is himalaya/ mixed with sliver point. dh wants a dog but i cant bring myself to do that to my furbabies so when they go to cat heaven we will get a dog.
We have two dogs. We have Berkeley, a husky shephard mix, and Reese, a lab maybe rotti mix (not so sure about him). I really want a cat, even though I am slightly allergic to them. I can get used to a cat's dander and I will be fine with it, but those first few weeks are rough!!!
We have a dog with THE most personality - Kali - she's a husky/chow mix. Jen also has a snake - a ground boa - Penelope - I normally HATE snakes, but I've grown quite fond of Penelope.
We have none. We had a dog last year but I was allergic, so sadly he had to go. We also had a cat but she ran away years ago. Right now the kids have been asking for fish, so we'll probably go along with that.
We have an Australian cattle dog named Jasmine. We live in a small house, with a huge yard, which is great for playing fetch!
We have one dog named Gizmo Two turtles named Yobo & Hota Two fish who are nameless.
We have 2 cats and a chinchilla. Nate wants a dog, but we weren't sure where we were moving and didn't want to get stuck without a place to keep it. We've found out where we're going to be moving to, and we can get a dog, so I might surprise him for his birthday. We currently rent a small house, and we'll be moving into a duplex. Honestly, that'll be my limit, the chin is in her cage all the time, so she's not too big of a deal, but the cats are driving me NUTS (need to be spayed).
One indoor cat, one indoor fish, and two outdoor bunnies!
We have two cats--Gizmo, a 2yo Maine Coon mix and Seree, a 9yo mix of some sort! lol We also have Lucky, a 1yo mini-schnauzer and 5 fish (one 10 cent goldfish, two fan tail goldfish, one fancy goldfish with a BIG tail and one gold dojo loach). The cats are both strictly indoor cats.
We have 2 jrt's, one almost 8 and one almost 4. We wouldn't mind 3 dogs if we had a little bigger home. (We live on about an acre with a ranch house in the country) Our dogs are always 'inside' pets, so we feel like we need a little more space for that. Nothing other than dogs here, though...ever! We're dog lovers bigtime.
1 male cat- indoor/outdoor, neutered. We are not really huge cat lovers. Kids wanted one and so we have one and of course are attached him now. He is pretty cool! 3 lab's- 1 black lab (7 yrs), 1 choc lab (7 yrs), and 1 yellow lab (7 months old). We have a huge fenced backyard perfect for the dogs to run. Plus we let them in the house some, and take them to the lake alot on the weekends where they swim like crazy. The choc lab is obsessed with tennis balls. Yellow lab is obsessed with the choc lab and whatever she is doing, black lab wishes we had never got that pesky puppy. lol They are all *fixed* except the yellow one, breeding her has crossed my mind. May not ever do it. I am hoping to get 2 of my labs certified to do Pet Therapy in the next year or so!! Yellow lab starts school in August! lol That'll be interesting. I hope to have a horse and some calves in the next yr or two... (if we move!) Only have 2 acres here in town--so obviously we need to move out to the farm to do that. Only you can decide when enough is enough. Pets are expensive. We spent $100 on our choc lab the other day-- 7 stitches in her head. She ran into my mil's RV that was parked on the drive-- my mil *always* brings her animals with her-- well my dog decided to chase the cat she had let out of the rv. Dh and I were kind of upset about that. But things happen. Its like having kids. lol
2 cats. My beloved Tom is orange short haired. For mother's day I got Jayne Ellen! She is beautiful black and white long haired kitten. I was shocked and so far she is the best present ever.
4 cats all spayed or neutered, Miss Mudd, Miss Pebbles, Miss Mouse (all tortose shell calicos) and Tom. (my Tom is a black and white tuxedo cat) I would have stopped at the girls but Tom wandered in the cat door and decided he lived with us. 1 very very very old Golden named Dutch. We adopted him after his person died and they said he was 5 then but I think he was older, I think they thought we wouldnt take him if we knew his real age, we figure he is between 14 and 16 but he is still a happy old guy and loves the kids. Is going to be a sad day when he goes to dog heaven. Don't think we will get a replacement for him, honestly am tired of being the dog feeder, waterer, vacuumer. I would like to be able to leave for a day or two and just have food down for the cats. 2 bunnies for 4-h. No problems w/ them except the nag nag nag of are they watered and fed.
2 birds (blue crown conures) Sophie & Presley and about 10 fish. Thats all right now.
One cat (our other cat of 14 died about 3 weeks ago), 1 dog, 5 goldfish and 3 pleicostams fish. DD wants a yorky. We'll see. I'd have a zoo if I had some land and a barn. I'd love to have a horse, goat, llama, peacock, pigs, chickens, and on and on. DD and I would be in zoo heaven.
My son has 3 hermit crabs in a tank in his room, and we have one chinchilla. "Chi Chi" is the most wonderful pet! We adopted him from the humane society after we decided we couldn't have any more cats. We had a 21 year old cat, an 11 year old cat, and a young cat - and we lost all three within a year's time. Coyotes have moved into the area, and some fishers as well, and we think that's what happened. So, no more cats for us. With some research, we decided on a chinchilla, and while we were looking for one (the pet stores around here don't have them) the humane society got one in (they never had one before!) and they chose us to take him. The BEST choice we could have made. He is the sweetest, most wonderful pet
RiffandShelby I wanted to post the doggies webpages since I just learned how to do this! You can visit both dogs from this page.
Jasmine's Dogster Page Can view Honey's page from there, too. Riff and Shelby are cute!
We live in the country and have several pets. I am a huge animal lover, as are my two children, and my husband is a closet animal lover Hehe!!!! We have three outdoor dogs: Chancey a lab mix, who has free reign of our property (seven acres), but mostly stays on our porch or with whoever happens to be outside at the moment. Mandy, also a lab mix, and Caeden, a Great Dane/Lab have a huge lot that they share, and we let them loose quite often, though they are not allowed out unattended. One indoor dog, a Cocker Spaniel named Jasmine who mostly goes by Jazzy. 4 outdoor cats, Smokey, Speck, White Ranger (my ds loves Power Rangers), and Hershey, who just had a litter of two grey kittens and two black kittens. This will be her last litter, as she is getting taken care of. A cocketeil named Piper, a hamster named Sully, a guinea pig named Silkey, and a ferret named Riley. A dog that we "adopted" who was actually lost and his owners never answered our ads, or contacted our animal shelters or hospitals, just died a few weeks ago. He was a very old Chihuahua that we called Max. We were very lucky to share his last year of life with him. We all love our fur kids and the only thing keeping us from getting more is the expense of the upkeep and such. We may eventually get another dog to replace Max, because we really enjoyed having two dogs inside, and Jazzy liked the company, though she does have her best friend Riley, still.
LOL Kristen! Our bunnies are 4-H, too...and I am always saying, "Your rabbit needs (fill in the blank)!" LOL
Thanks so much for all the responses, we had our home study today for adopting the doxie. So yes we've decided to go ahead and get her. I will let everyone know how it all goes....!!
We have two cats--Keebler is a Himalayan and Oreo is a medium-haired mutt cat, and a basset hound (from a basset rescue! ) named Montana. If you go to Montana's dogster page there are links to the kitties. The cats are strictly indoors and the dog in mainly indoors, but outside in our fenced back yard when we are gone. I nearly forgot to tell all of you how much I enjoyed hearing about your pets and viewing the cute doggie pages. I'm going to go some of my own when I get the chance!!! I think we will be fine with this new addition and I am excited to be able to have rescued her after her breeding career was over, they say that once they are done having puppies they hand them over to a rescue or take them to a pound.
We have four pets which include: Two dogs, one cat and one gerbil. I would love to get a bird. I'm trying to convince my soon-to-be 10 year old that is what she wants for her birthday in Aug.
We have three cats, Enzo, Bentley and Hummer, all spayed or neutered, all inside/outside. We live in a very well-protected neighborhood and other than a couple of small dogs, they are the largest animals out there! We also have a new terrier mix named Roxy. We've had up to 6 cats but have found homes for a couple of them. That was just too much for this home and this mama! Even the dog was a probationary agreement to begin with. We love her, she's perfect for our family. We really feel like our family is complete now.
One cat Jackson Triggs...we call him triggs..he's just under a year old.
