Hey there -

I just had my house cleaned for the first time by a house cleaning company. It was amazing!!!! They even dusted the blinds and cleaned all the crumbs out of the toaster oven! My question is... do I tip the ladies that clean my house? Every time? Never? A little something on holidays? They work for a company and I pay the company monthly for the service.

This is a tough one, because you are already paying for the service, but since you aren't paying them directly and you are really pleased, you might give them a little something if you think they provided exceptional service. Will you be using the service regularly and will you always have the same ladies? If that is the case then you could probably just give them something on the holidays, but if it is not always the same staff and you find they go above and beyond, I would give them a nominal amount each time.

I agree completely with the above. I used a cleaning service for a year, however, these two ladies were self employed. I was going to give them something at Christmas, but I ended up being really dissatisfied with the service in the end so I didn't.

One thing I did do was, everytime I cleaned out a closet I left the box for them to take whatever they wanted. They always took everything. I was a little worried about offending but they were always very happy with what I left.

If you do want to give them something, wait awhile, usually the first time they come in they do a big clean-up, then the following weeks it's more of a quick clean and maintenance.

I found that as time went by they did less and less and I kept having to leave them notes, like "Please lock the door when you leave!"

Anyway that was just my experience. If I wasn't at home and could afford this wonderful luxury, believe me I would do it again.

We don't, but we don't have it done regularly...wish we did! If you're satisfied with the work done, I would give a gift every few months or so.
