Any special plans for Mothers Day???
I am hoping Sunday is a nice day. We have Opening Day for DS's little league baseball at 2 and then DH made dinner reservations for 5:30 at a local restaurant for the 6 of us, Me, DH, the 3 kiddos and my Dad. Its been awhile since we all went out to eat together. I am finding this Mothers Day to be a bit hard after losing my Mom in August. First Mothers Day without her
{{{{{HUGS}}}}} Kathy. I don't know what we are doing. We were supposed to go to my Aunt's house to celebrate, but it all depends on how my Grandma is doing.
Kathy, I am right there with you on that one, DH and I have both lost our moms this year, as you know. I told him just last night that I am dreading this weekend. He asked me if I wanted to go out to eat on Sunday, but I really don't because all the restaurants are SO crowded on Mother's Day and honestly, it will pretty much just be a reminder that our moms are gone. I haven't heard from Jules so I probably won't be seeing her and Madison. We might just go down to the French Quarter if the weather is nice. I do know how you feel this Mother's Day. I think it's going to be depressing for us - that's why I want to go out and do something FUN.
Karen thats what I thought maybe it I keep busy it will be easier, doubt it but its worth a try. I have to get to the cemetery to put flowers on, and I am dreading that and keep putting it off
(((hugs))) Karen and Kathy The first Mother's Day was the hardest for me, but my kids helped me get through just by being here and keeping me busy. I visit my mother's grave every Mother's Day and leave a flower for each of her children (7). This year, after visiting the cemetary, we are going to drive to the state park where my nephew is getting married later this month so we'll know where we're going on his wedding day, then we'll probably order out or try to find a restaurant and, as long as the weather cooperates, do yard work and start planting in my garden.
I'm sorry Kathy and Karen. I hope you do have a Great Mother's Day though. I am not sure what we are going to do but DH and the girls always do something real nice for me. I hope all the mothers have a really wonderful day!!!
Ditto - I hope every one of our moms has a wonderful Mother's Day!
Karen, Kathy, I know how you feel. It's a bittersweet day to be a mother without a mother.
Ditto Jann. We will be driving to to my MIL in Orange County to have brunch with her. Then we wake up on Monday and go to Palm Springs for 3 days! I am so excited, it will be nice to get away and relax with Dh and the kids for a few days.
I haven't been able to celebrate since my mom died almost 8 years ago now. The first year my hubby bought a card and wrote "i hope your day doesn't suck too bad" it was probably my only smile of the day. Each year gets different, sometimes better, sometimes worse. I got to listen to my grandmother today talking about how my aunt was all out of sorts because one of her 3 daugthers couldn't be there this year. Well I just had no sympathy. I think I would love to visit mom's grave, but it is just too far away and nothing to do there.
Kaye, that card sounds great! And it does change each year, but it's never the same.
