Dan is doing well except at night. His stomach cramps up and he wakes me up crying. I remember being sick in the middle of the night and thinking I was dying because it is dark and you are alone so I am totally cool with getting up and reassuring him. Last night he woke me up at 1am. I was super groggy, stumbled in, gave him some pain meds, told him he would be ok and that it would get better in a minute. He looked at me and told me he was sorry to wake me up. AWWW!!! Made me all mommy gooey inside that even though he was scared and hurting that he thought about the hassle of waking me up in the middle of the night and felt bad about it. Told him that it was totally ok and if he needed me to go ahead a call for me. So I had to brag on what a good guy he can be sometimes.

Yes, you are obviously a successful parent. Tell Dan that that is what mommies and daddies do, and he will do the same for his children when he is a daddy - a "pass it on" kind of thing.

He went to school today for the first time and did well. I didnt even have him take a tylenol. He didnt have his followup w/ the surgeon until 3 so he wasnt *exactly* cleared to go back to school but he really wanted to go today because they were doing a thing on pioneers and he didnt want to miss it. The surgeon was super impressed on how it has healed up and so am I. It really just looks like he got a nasty scratch from a blackberry and I think that is pretty darn good considering he is only 1 week post op.

Some of the kids at school let on that if it had ruptured he could have died. He thought they were pulling his leg but I told him that it was true. He asked how and I explained. Then he got really quiet and then said "so the surgeon saved my life" I told him yeah but I saved his life too by driving him to the hospital, he thought that was funny So I think he will be OK with the whole mortality thing. I am really glad to have him on the mend.
