How old is too old to have birthday parties... I know this will difer. But my son will be 11 yrs old this Aug. I still plan on him having a birthday party.Because all my kids have summer birthdays it makes it easy. We have a big above ground pool. SO all the parties are pool parties/bbq type parties. It always works out well. Its simple and kids love the water.
He still wants a party this year. Although he would like it out somewhere, we always stick with it at home. For financial reasons I tell him he could invite more friends when its at home.
Do you put an age limit when the parties stop?
This year, Im combining his party and Faiths party on the same day. Matthews birthday is Aug 19, Faiths birthday is Aug 13. So it will be one BIG party.. each with their own birthday cake. My other daughters birthday is in July.. so its one party after an another LOL
I can remember when I was a kid, I didnt have a party after 2nd grade. I never thought much about it, until I had my own kids.

With DS Tom the last party he had was a surprise party at 13 with all his friends. We still have cake for him and he's 19. But his last big party was 13. When he turned 16 I wanted to have a party but he said he was too old so we just had grand parents and cake. Brett will turn 11 in Sept. and I am sure he will still want a party.

My dd will be 15 in June, and she still wants parties. Of course, now it just involves having a bunch of friends over and "hanging out." I just have to provide the food, music, and step back! Last year we had a "smoothie" party where we made fancy smoothies and drinks. My ds is 12 and also still enjoys parties, although he prefers to take his friends to a hockey game, or do laser tag. As long as they want them, I'll provide what I can. There are only a few birthdays left while they're still at home...:(

Yep, once my son turned 13 it was pretty much his group of 10 buds going to bowl or a movie then sleeping over. Now, all this friends are into poker so it's all night poker parties. But, it's still a party with cake and everything. He even likes party favors! LOL

I had parties until I was out of the house and now DH throws them for me. We just celebrated DH's 27th birthday with a party in February. I don't think anybody outgrows a good party! LOL :)

You're never too old for birthday parties--the nature of the party just changes! My last party where I had friends over and we played traditional party games I was 9. However, for my 10th-12th birthdays I had 5 friends over for roller skating and then a slumber party. For my 13th & 14th I had 2 friends sleep over and we rented movies and ate pizza or my dad fired up the BBQ. For 15th & 16th my mom took my best friend and me out to lunch and we went shopping (yeah!--3 uninterrupted hours and Barnes & Noble!) For my 17th & 18th I just went out to dinner with my family, only because I didn't have any close friends with whom I wanted to share the day. Many of my friends still had larger parties as teens and we thought it was normal and cool--it just wasn't my style.

I don't think your ever to old to have a party either. We usually have thrown the girls one like every other year. My oldest just had her 16th back in February. I think that will probably be it until she's 21. My youngest had one last year at 12 and won't have another until she is 14, than 16. When they were real little we did them every year.

Ditto - you are NEVER too old for a b'day party! My boss's family makes THE biggest deal out of b'day parties - for EVERYone! They have a big thing for every b'day at their home with friends and family - it's usually a barbeque or crawfish boil or some type of dinner, and they always have cakes and gifts, etc.
