My dress for my night out in New York...
...if I win, that is. dress I'm the high bidder, but 4 more days to go. I think it's a beautiful dress...elegant, but with a bit of a "va-voom" factor in the back.
Ooooooh, I like it! Hope you get it!
uhhhh, that is really nice... I hope you win it. This is going to sound kind of stupid but- I wouldnt even know how to dress on a night out in NYC. lol I would probably have just thrown on a pair of capris and a shirt. * major blushing* I bet my dh thinks I am such a dork. --I didnt wear any dresses like that when we went on our trip afew weeks ago. lol oops... I learn alot from this board. LOL
Wow - great dress. Hope you get it. And tell me, how do you intend to convince hubby to dress up to it? If you get that dress you definitely need a hotel for showering, etc. before the show.
That is nice...I hope you get it.
JUST the thing for dinner and a show! Have a great time! Ame
Thanks! I'm glad you all approve too. And esp. you, Ame, since you're a New Yorker and have been to the theater a time or two. Ginny, you must have missed my update. I ended up tacking the NY trip to the beginning of a week long sabbatical we have in Ohio Amish country. So, since we are condensing flights to NY and OH in one trip it costs less, so we are now spending a whole weekend in NY. We get there Friday 11 am and leave after lunch on Sunday. I'm letting DH in on the secret the night before since we have to get the kids situated. As far as DH dressing up goes, he actually likes to get dressed up and go out on occasion. I'll probably get him a new dress shirt (he REALLY needs a few and Lands' End now has "no wrinkle" ones) and a tie too.
It's beautiful! I hope you get it! For future reference it's always best to bid at the last minute so that others don't think there is someone else out there interested in the item! Lull them into a false sense of security!
Good luck! It is a beautiful dress
It's absolutely perfect! Now you have to get some wonderful high strappy black sandals to go with it.
Fabuloso! I'd get the hair too! Cute Cute Cute Can't wait for the travel report
Being a New Yorker... you don't have to dress up for the theater.... Just a nice top and pants. Some people dress up and some don't. Love the dress though... Looks like it is getting bid up though..... We got invited to Riverdance. I wasn't feeling well so I just wore any old top and pants.. I use snip service. else people just bid on things to take them away from you.
http://www.snip.pl/en/ This is the one I use. I think it is the cheapest snip service.
Maybe it's because I am a tourist, but I always dressed for the theater when I am in NY. I always dress for it here too. But, I love dressing up.
Jann, LOL, we think alike. I always get dressed up any chance I get. I know (unfortunately) that the glory days of Broadway, when dressing up was absolutely necessary, are gone. However, it IS still a place where you CAN get dressed up and not feel out of place. We even get dressed up to go to the Broadway touring shows in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. As for "high strappy black sandals"--not too sure about that. I'm already 5'9", plus we'll probably walk to the theater since our hotel is in the hteater district, but I'm sure it will still be several blocks. Not sure I'll be able to walk too far in *really* sexy shoes.
NOT a tourist, but always dressed nicely for the theatre! It's perfect! Ame
Heck, I remember wearing LONG dresses to the theater! OK, so not high, a sexy kitten heel slide then.
We dress up for the theatre here too. But its just nice slacks and a sweater or nice shirt. I do see some women in furs there. lol No thanks! Dh's work use to have a semi formal banquet every yr. There were women there in FORMAL gowns (that looked like prom dresses to me) and I always wore a nice little black dress / dh a nice suit. I hated that banquet!! LOL They have since changed it to an outdoor concert/picnic-- I LOVE it now. We can take the kids -- they do bouncey houses and obstacle courses, arts n crafts, etc for the kids. And I get to wear my blue jeans. No more wasting money on getting my hair done up and dresses I only wore once-- of course I always had to buy new shoes to match the dress and jewelry every yr. It really bugged me to have to blow all that money for one night! LOL Now they are all hanging in the closet collecting dust. I should take them to the re-sale shop.
It's a beautiful dress, Pam! I, too, love any occasion to get dressed up. You will have a great time in NYC, and you'll look HOT! (Which, of course, is the most important thing, LOL!)
Thats a beautiful dress. Hope you win it
VERY pretty dress, Pam!
I love it! I think the idea of having a dress-up date sounds wonderful!
I love it!!! You will look fabulous in it
Great dress. Confesion... other than my wedding day I have never (NEVER) dressed up fancy for anything. I hope you have a great time.. And enjoy Ohio. Right now it is raining and chilly. YUCKY!!
Really? Weddings? nothing?
Nope... Nothing. I have only been to Four weddings (my mom's, my own, and both my sisters) The dress for all was semi casual. So, I wore sun dresses and sandals. Pretty but not my idea of dressed up, I wear those same dresses to church now. I didn't go to my Junior or Senior proms either. Never been anywhere I needed to dress up... Never worn a dress that I bought to only wear once(other than my wedding dress, which my sister also wore and DD plans to wear).. Feel bad for me??? LOL
I dress for the theater here but not in NY. Here I drive and there I walk. I want comfort when I'm walking.
