They usually have muffins, grapes, coffee, etc. Any good food ideas for moms and kids? (Ages are 1-4yrs)
Chex Mix is always a big hit as well as Goldfish. Apple juice for the kids. Muffins and loaf bread (like banana bread) are always good for the adults and the kids. If it is during the lunch hour you could always heat up chicken nuggets or mini fish sticks.
Choc covered strawberries? Fruit pizza? donut holes? You might look up Family Fun Magazine. They always have cute snack ideas for little ones. We had a playdate last yr for Blake and I made something I had seen in that mag. They looked like inch worms. Trying to remember what they were made with... mini oreos, icing, gummie savers, mini m&m eyes... Too cute! Unfortunately, I cant remember how to make them. lol!
Coffee drink for the Mom's : 1 cup *very* strong coffee (cooled off) Several scoops vanilla ice cream 1 tsp vanilla (possibly some ice or some milk so it will blend better) Place in blender and blend well. Pour in Glasses top with shot of whip cream and a coffee bean. I made these for my in-laws this week. Big hit. I had originally had them had a brunch a couple of yrs ago. Super good!
I would avoid anything with nuts due to possible allergies. Chex Mix is a no-no in my house for that reason. Keep it simple. Fresh fruit and/or veggies, cheese and crackers, etc..
I would make a dip for the mommies. You could do a cheese dip or a black bean dip, both pretty simple and last for a long time.
Thanks, everyone! Playgroup went well! I got Chex Mix (in Melissa's defense, there is a kids version without nuts), goldfish with cheese, chocolate chip muffins, fruit gel snacks, and various juices and coffee. I don't drink coffee myself but I hope it tasted good!
Oh, I wasn't aware there was a nut free version of Chex Mix. I'll have to check it out. Glad to hear your playgroup went well!
Yes Trina. That's the one I was talking about. It's a cheese flavored one with everything but the nuts. I buy that one for DD and keep it around in case there are unexpected kids over, which happens more often than I care for, lol.
