I Spy Jar
The kids and I made an I Spy Jar tonight. We took an old spaghetti sauce jar, cleaned it really well, filled it almost full with sand, and then put little things like colored beads, beads with letters, a thumb tack, a paper clip, a jack, a little plastic ring, a hair claw (one of the tiny ones), a little plastic baby bottle, a tiny plastic lion, and a little plastic lizard. Then we screwed the lid on tight and the kids have to turn the jar to find the objects. It's really neat! Randy wants to find more stuff to put in it. We're going to type a list of the items to tape to the top and then take pictures of each item (I have more of everything except the lion and the lizard--we'll have to fish those out) and make little cards to put on a ring for non-readers. I found the idea on line somewhere. I plan on making little ones with the older day care kids using baby food jars, then they can take them home. We'll have to use tiny things, but they should still be neat. I'd like to make a big one using a plastic jar. Maybe next time I use up some peanut butter.
That sounds like a neat idea! I'll have to remember that.
Our pediatrician has pillows like this in all the exam rooms. My kids can play with this forever!!! Even I enjoy helping them hunt for items. You'll have so much fun with this! Mini ones are a great idea.
What a great idea Cat!!
