No backing down now

I did it!! I bought the Spamalot tickets. They are not the greatest seats, but that's only because the thing is selling out like crazy. I had originally wanted to go in May, but could only get tickets in September and to a matinee at that. Left Balcony, but at least we're in the theater.

I now feel a little less guilt about the money and we'll have more time in NY because I came up with (I thought :)) a brilliant idea. DH and I are going on a sabbatical to Amish country-middle of nowhere Ohio in September. We have a Sunday-Friday reserved there. It's a bed and breakfast type place and FREE to full-time ministers. It will be wonderfully peaceful and quiet. So...the weekend before we head to the retreat we're going to NY. We'll fly into NY Friday and I'll try to get Letterman tickets, then we'll have time to sightsee in the morning, go to the matinee at 2:00, sightsee again in later afternoon/evening, go to a nice restuarant, and have a little time on Sunday before we head to Ohio. So we will get 2 nights in NY after all and I'm saving paying 2 separate airfares from LA/OH and LA/NY and paying for one trip LA/NY/OH/LA---it's only about $100 more a plane ticket. I've invested money now, so I can't chicken out.

It will be a blast and I won't tell my DH about the NY part until the day before we leave. I think I'm going to leave random clues in his office like a "big apple," a can of Spam, a knight action figure, etc. just to confuse him the week before we go.

Sounds great!! :) How do you get from NYC to Ohio?

By Pamt on Monday, April 11, 2005 - 10:50 pm:

Planes from place to place to place. I just bought plane tickets. ARRGHHH!! Priceline quoted my $578, but I pieced together flights: Jet Blue, United, and Southwest for total airfare of $332 each. Yippee!! The priceline rate is $250 more than it was about 4 days ago, so I figured I'd better go ahead and buy, esp. since we're going on Labor Day weekend.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Can't wait to hear what your dear hubby thinks about the surprise.

Wow Pam, you did great on the plane fares!!!!! We have spent an absolute fortune flying back and forth to FL the past 2 months, none of our tickets were that cheap. I hope you have a wonderful, exciting, enjoyable, relaxing and romantic time!

That's sounds like an incredible time. My DH is drooling, as he is itching to see Spamalot. :)

Pam, I use Expedia and Travelocity for setting up travel here at work. I like both much, much better than Priceline.
