Very cute--is it true?
I received this email today. I thought it was really cute. I'm a first time mommy and it seems pretty acurate to me. What do you think? Your Clothes: 1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy. 2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible. 3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes. Preparing for the Birth: 1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously. 2nd baby: You don't bother because you remember that last time, breathing didn't do a thing. 3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your eighth month. The Layette: 1st baby: You pre-wash newborn's clothes, color-coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby's little bureau. 2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains. 3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can't they? Worries: 1st baby: At the first sign of distress-a whimper, a frown-you pick up the baby. 2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn. 3rd baby: You teach your three-year-old how to rewind the mechanical swing. Pacifier: 1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it. 2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby's bottle. 3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in. Diapering: 1st baby: You change your baby's diapers every hour, whether they need it or not. 2nd baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed. 3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees. Activities: 1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby Story Hour. 2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics. 3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner. Going Out: 1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home five times. 2nd baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached. 3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood. At Home: 1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby. 2nd baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older child isn't squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby. 3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children. Swallowing Coins (a favorite): 1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays. 2nd child: When second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for the coin to pass. 3rd child: When third child swallows a coin you deduct it from his allowance!!
I've seen this before but it always makes me laugh. LOL! I only have 2 kids, but can say, "YES! This is true!"
I've seen this before and love it! I only have one young dd but I think a lot of it is true for me, too!
I am on my 3rd right now and I can say that no I don't think it is true..well, most of it is not. at least for me. Everyone is different though, I may be an oddball.
I'm the mom of 3 boys & yes MOST of this is true! LOL Probably not the coin thing though! I have a friend who is the youngest of 9... he says that his pacifier could have fallen in the mud & not been cleaned! LOL
I four have kids and most of it is true. Or maybe the underlying sense of becoming more relaxed and know when not to sweat over the little things. I remember with my first leaving the house for a grocery run was like having to pack for a three week vacation. I had everything in my diaper for any "emergency"! LOL By my last I learned to keep a packed diaper bag in the car, pretty much. I can always spot new parents now when out and about. They travel with an aresenal of supplies, just in case!
I have 3 and say YES
>> I would get SO mad when my dh would bring the bag IN! He was trying to be helpful I guess!
LOL karefl, we moved from texas to ohio, i always kept the bag in the van. Well we were out and about and the little guy needed a change, badly. So I pull off the diaper, grab a wipe and they are FROZEN! YOu never have this issue in texas..rofl. So here I was trying to decide how to tackle this, I have a half folded up yucky diaper and no wipes. I finally just put the new diaper on his dirty bottom and headed home. Alot of these are very true for me, the preparing for labor thing to a T. I had an easy first labor, pitocin and no pain killers with number two, and with number 3 we had the epidural talk at 4 months. I think I really worried about different things with each one. After you make it through each stage you see what is important and what is not. Even now my oldest stresses me more, I know that her 5th grade grades won't keep her out of harvard, but I hate when she gets a raw deal and it affects her grades. But you realize with each one, kids will be kids, no matter what excellent parenting job you do, they will at some point do something horrific that makes you wish you could just crawl into a hole and makes you wish you knew just the right answer. If you haven't gotten there yet, you will, some do it later than others, but they all have their moments eventually.
Well then Candice I'm an oddball right along with you. I'm on my second child they are nine years apart and everything that I did for the first child I also do and have done for my second child. Everyone that knows me always says she take care of Justin's (my son) belongings just like she did for Davongah(daughter's name). So no I don't thik that it is true,at least not for everyone.
