Help brushing up on Math skills?
I need to take a math test and I need to pass atleast the 9th grade level, which is probably calculus by now.LOL Where can I relearn all the wonderful things we learned in highschool? Is there some great sites online that teach as you go?
LOL.. I can't help you with sites, but I will say that you are right about it being at least calculus by now. Dd is in 4th grade and is already doing basic algebra!! That is actually what the header on her Math homework was last night. Basic Algebra!! 4th grade..10 years old!! I am not going to be able to help her if she gets stuck much longer. LOL
My cousin is in the 9th grade and she is taking Algebra 1, every place is different but thought that might help out knwing about where they are. There is a site called math.com That might help out there is a place to the left of the page that has all different subject, pre-algebra trig, and all that. HTH
You could always go to your library and see if they have something you can check out. I know when I was taking an algebra class last summer I went to my library and checked out the videos they had on algebra.
Hi Stori, Wish I could help you...I tutor math and science here in Maryland and trust me, I have to relearn all of the time too. Are you studying for a particular test?
I am finishing my phd right now (done in a few months--yeah!!) in math; I guess that doesn't help you, though. You might try contacting a local university and see if there are any math majors interested in tutoring. Maybe you could drop by the high school in your area and borrow a copy of the highest level math book they use for 9th grade and then a tutor could help you through the book or you could learn it on your own?? If it is really important that you pass and you are willing to spend some money, maybe you could take a College Algebra or Intermediate Algebra course (which is just a remedial math course in college--some places call it different things) at a local community college; that material should be the same as what you would have learned in high school. Good luck!
I suggest you visit your local high school and try to get a copy of their curriculum for 9th graders. You may also want to review the 6-8 grade curriculum as well. Also try this site: http://www.explorelearning.com/ They offer a 30 day free trial.
