Kirby vacuum owners....a question
can you make it blow as well as suck. need to know now, inflating a matress
I know you can because I have an attachment for it, but I just can't remember how. When my dh gets home I ask him.
Ditto Emily. Do you have your manual?
nothing to refer to
You can, and I've done it, but I don't remember how..........
you guys are lots of help okay, here is what I can see. If you take off the bag thing, you would hook the hose there. Does it require something special to do this?
I think that is how it is done. I just looked at the hose and it has the proper fitting inside the rim. Too late to help DH though. Oh well. Thanks for the replies.
I have one that has an attachment that I call the "nose" of the vacuum, that would go over the front where the hose would normally go. It has a thing that goes into the switch to the side of the shaft. If there isn't anything for that switch, the motor won't run, as a safety feature. Also, the "nose" piece has holes in it that draw in air. The hose then goes over the outlet where the bag usually goes. I also have an attachment that is small and has an opening about the size of a no.2 pencil led and I use that to blow out my computer keyboard. I tried to find you a picture on kirby.com, but all they have are pics of bags, belts, and brush rollers. For anything else, it says to contact your Kirby dealer.
I am sorry we didn't get it figured out in time for you. I would say that if your dh was a Doubting Tom he deserved to blow it up. LOL
LOL, Emily, that is exactly how I feel about too. Cocoabutter, that sounds very complicated. I'm not sure if I have all the attachments or not. My MIL gave it to us. She has had it several years. It is the Generation 3 Kirby. She has no clue where the manual is. I have no idea how to work the attachments. She has never used the carpet cleaner. I need to find one (manual) somewhere.
I couldn't stand it- I wanted to take a picture of my attachments for you, but the batteries in my digital camera are dead. I went on eBay and found this set of attachments for a G3. For $15.00 you could have all you need! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43525&item=4362705122&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW The little nozzle with the pointy end is in the center of the picture. The cover for the nose of the vacuum is at the top.
Thanks for the link. I don't think I have all of those pieces, I will have to look. I do have quite a few. Perhaps MIL will come across more at her house. I definitely need to get an owners manual
I have the Generation 3, I *think* you have it figured out..........as I remember it, it was just a matter of removing one thing and connecting something else where that went.....I know, I'm no help here...... I HATE HATE HATE my Kirby, so I haven't used it in a long time.....it is pretty much my *backup* vacuum cleaner...
Wow, you hate it? Why? Of course it is heavy and clumsy, and definitely not easy to switch between hose and floor. But I thought the cleaning power was suppose to really be top of the line.
My Bissell bagless cleans the floor SO much better than my Kirby. And, as you mentioned, it is heavy and cumbersome.
I have the Ultimate G, which is the latest model that they made. We bought it in 2002, and it has a direct drive (self-propelled) and it's great. My allergies haven't bothered me as much because I am able to get more dust and dirt off the floors, and it doesn't spit it back out like my Hoover did. I use my Kirby to vacuum my couch (dog hair) and my office chair at my computer (which my cat loves to sleep on), as well as to clean window screens, my computer keyboard, and dust and cobwebs on my walls (especially in the fall when it gets chilly and all the spiders find their way in the house!)
