Room Dividers, Screen Dividers
Does anyone have one of these? You know, they're tall, narrow 'screens' all hinged together and you place them anywhere for privacy or to divide a room? They're generally four or five feet wide and about five or six feet tall. Someone near me is selling one and it's beautiful...mahagony wood with actual white fabric as the screens. For nine years my L shaped living/dining room has been a normal (semi formal) living room with a PLAYROOM for the dining room. So everytime you're in the living room you see all these toys and vibrant colors and mess. It doesn't go!! It looks awful! I thought if I placed the screen there it would help. But do they knock over easily? Most of all, are they really outdated or dumb in terms of decorating? My living room furniture is dark cherry, so the mahogany would look fine. Any input?
I'm not using them now, but down through the years I used two of them in almost every house or apartment we had. They were always fantastic for blocking out portions of usable space from other rooms. If you fold them at a good angle they are very sturdy.
I think they are attractive, I've never used one in my home, but I would in the right room. If it's a nice piece and is not too expensive, go for it, those can be pricey brand new!
Thanks Bea and Crystal. It's $50 but has been in the local online classified for a few months so maybe they'd take less. I've seen a pic and it's really pretty. I just don't know if they're in style or not around here! I don't know anyone who has one. Any other opinions?
Doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think they would fall over with any kid under 8 year old. Fall right on their head.
I have a friend who uses one all the time. She screens off her dining room. Or my fav she puts it infron the the front door so you can't see in and they can ignore solicitors..LOL
I have a wicker one that I have had for many years. There never seemed to be just the right place to use it. When we lived in our trailer I had it behind the couch and put photos in it. It is now down in our basement and it's in a corner of my DH's bar area. At least I can see it now and than.
