Proactive
I am thinking about getting this product called Proactive for my face. I don't have break outs that bad, but lately, I have had my share of them. I can't stand them. They make me feel like I am 13 again. Does anyone use this? How do you like it? TIA
I'm 41 and still have acne prone skin. Unfortunately, it doesn't make me feel like a teen. LOL! I used Proactiv for a couple years. It's expensive, but I was happy with the initial results. However, I have sensitive skin and can't use moisturizer of any kind or I'll break out. After long term use of Proactiv I noticed I was developing more and more hearty white heads. (TMI, but by "hearty" I mean will NOT go away for months! Ewww!) I used to get an occasional one or two but never several at a time. I stopped using Proactiv and went back to using Neutrogena products. Within a couple weeks all the white heads were gone. Much cheaper option, too! For ME Proactiv didn't work out, but I know a lot of people have good results and continue to use it.
Proactiv is a lifesaver!!! I always had wonderful skin until I had a miscarriage two years ago. When that happened my skin when crazy all over my neck, back, and face. I was crying everyday because the products I had always used were making it worse!! My sister recommended Proactiv because she's always had skin problems. I've been using it for about a year and a half and I absolutely love it. It cleared everything up within about 3 weeks and I feel 'back to normal'. I don't even want to try to go back to my old stuff (Bioelements) because my skin is perfect. I don't feel that proactiv is expensive, but that's an opinion thing. The only thing I noticed with proactiv is once I started clearing up, it had a tendency to dry my face out, so I just started using their oil-free mositurizer once or twice a week. For me, now I don't even use the whole kit, I just use the cleanser, eye serum, and I keep the repairing lotion around because it keeps blemishes from creeping up. I feel like an infomercial but I can't say enough great things about proactiv! Check qvc if you want to order some. I always get it their because it's a little bit cheaper. One bottle of the cleanser lasts me at least 2 mths., but I only use it at night. That's what has worked out best for me. The repairing lotion bottle lasts me like a year. I only use it on my problem areas (like my chin) around my period time. Hope this helps! Sorry it's so long!
My 15 yo cousin uses this and last week she came over and her face was so borke out and this past thursday she came over and said does my face look better and I said yeah what'd you do and she said my mom bought me proactiv ...her face cleared p like 80% in 1 week..I think she would recommend this product. Good ol' soap and water and a good moisturizer does it for me, but everyone is different. GL I cannot stand break outs either! I get a pimple every once in a while but never when I am pregnant..pregnancy instantly clears my skin up.
I use it and love it. I have very oily skin and I used to break out all the time. I was embarassed to go without make-up. I have been using it for 7 years and I very rarely get pimples anymore. If I do, they are small and go away in a day or 2. I also got Proactive for my 19 yr. old niece. She also swears by it.
I use it and like it.
After many frustrating visits to the dermatologist, I just resigned myself to the fact that I would have to live with adult acne. I ordered Proactive Solution as one last try. I am so thankful that I did. I am 35 and my pimples and blackheads are gone. The texture of my skin has changed too. No small lumps under the skin, and it appears tighter and younger looking. Someone told me the other day that I was "glowing". You should at least give it a try. It can't hurt to try it.
I don't know how expensive Proactive is, but I have had good luck with Clearasil 3 in 1 Acne Defense Cleanser. It has micro beads. I use it twice a day. I only get a pimple maybe once a year. It goes for about $6.50 +or- for a 6.78 oz bottle. Everyone is different, so use what works for you!
It worked good for me for a month or 2 then I had the same problem of getting horrible acne that would last months. I still have redness on my chin that looks like Iv'e been burned and I haven't used it in about 4 months. I just finnally found a concealer that covers it up. But I have a friend who swears by it.
I wish I could find something that would work for me at 41 my cheeks are a mess....I have never had a problem with acne or pimples. Now at my age I have red blotches and pimples on my face. Maybe early menopause....don't know. But its scary....and I am so self consious about it!!
Kathy is it Rosecea? It sounds like it, a derm could help.
Kernkate, perimenopause is fun, isn't it?! Do you wear foundation a lot? My skin has been in much better shape since I stopped wearing foundation on a daily basis.
My daughters use the proactive and we have had really good luck with it. It took me a long time to talk myself into ordering it because of the price. My youngest daughter has to use it the most because she has the most problems. It is expensive. Like $40.00 for three small bottles for the treatment but, we have tried many other cheaper items and it really does the best. My 39 year old SIL uses it also and swears by it.
I heard that the wal-mart brand of proactive works well too. Maybe try that before spending the money on the real stuff? I get a break-out once in awhile, but not too much. I just use a good facewash and moisturizer. If you try it, let us know what you think!
