Thomas the cat is going to be neutered
About 6 months ago Tom wandered into our lives. We certainly didnt need another cat, we already had 3 but he just wouldnt take no for an answer. I have gotten seriously attatched to Thomas but the time has come for him to have the big operation. He is over a year old and he is picking on the other cats. Has anybody had a cat get seriously angry w/ you for taking him to the vet for the big "N"? Any ideas besides plenty of love and cat food to make him forgive me?
I have only done it with dogs and I am actually taking my dog tommorrow. I did it with one other dog no problems. My dog needs it done to he likes humping a little to much. GROSS!
Kristin, I feel the same way ...I have to have my pup done... How old does a dog have to be to have the big "N"? Mine is 6 1/2 months and is starting to hump!!! Drives me nuts!
I dont know about dogs but cats you can have done really early like 8 weeks. I think your pup is old enough to have it done, probably sooner would be better than later so that his unacceptable behavior doesnt become ingrained.
I have taken a few cats and have never had a problem. You should have some idea by the general "attitude" of your cat to begin with. Their memories aren't too long, so if you give him lots of love and a treat I am sure he will be just fine. Is their anything special he likes around the house that you don't normally let him do, like sleep on your bed or something? Maybe give him a day or so of "special privelidges".
He'll be fine! He won't hold it against you, and will be a better pet for it. Good for you, doing this for him. He may sulk for a bit, but it won't last long. Just love him and spoil him!
Ditto Janet.
Ohh my TOM had this done and he quit fighting and all that stuff. He will do fine. He was very sleepy afterward though.
Our family cat, when I was a kid was neutered and declawed and he still loved us! Yes, I remember our cat being sleepy. So, was Jasmine after getting spayed, but for that long! LOL!
Well the deed has been done and he is recovering but when he was stoned he seriously scuffed his nose on something. Any ideas if neosporin or something would help his poor nose? I dont think he is leaving it alone but I am not catching him scratching or grooming it.
Oh yeah it's not on the skin part it is on the furry bridge of his nose.
We took in a young tom cat while living in Germany. Pyewacket needed to be neutered because he started marking boundaries. It had no bad effects. He was a lover from the start, and continued to be the rest of his long 19 year life. He had a callus on his nose from pushing open trash cans to eat while living on his own. His fur never was smooth on the top of his nose.
