Tent trailers?
We are looking into purchasing one and I would love feedback. I am not a tent camper so I suggest a tent trailer to DH and he agrees that it would be more comfortable, for sure. LOL TIA
We borrowed one last summer for a camping trip and were so much more comfortable. It took my step-dad a little while to get used to hauling it but it was very easy to manuever with it in back of his truck. It was very comfortable and sooo easy to put up. All positive feedback here!
From what I've seen of them they are better than tent camping (YUCK!). Dh is gung ho about camping w/the kids - I'd prefer a nice clean hotel or even better yet, a bunch of day trips - I'd get a tent trailer in a heartbeat.
Stori, We have one and it is so much better than a tent. One of the best things is storage. You can pack all of your pots and pans, all bedding, sleeping bags, food, etc in the tent trailer. Some things we leave in there all the time so packing and unpacking for a trip is a lot better. Of course the sleeping is so much more comfortable, too! If you like to camp somewhere different every night you might want to think about a small camper intstead.
My parents like to camp a lot and they started out with a Coleman pop-up several years ago, but they sold it after the first year and replaced it with a fifth wheel. The reason, they said, was because when it rained, the pop-up was a lot like a tent in the fact that you could get wet if you touched the side and it had to be completely dried before taking down to avoid mold and mildew. Other than that, they really liked it. We camped in it with them a couple of times and it's way more comfortable than regular tent camping (which I hate) and they are smaller and lighter to pull than most camper trailers.
I have never had tent trailor, but my sister and her dh had one, they really liked it but the canvas was really old and started rotting, so they junked it. But one thing I noticed from camping with them, we were all set up if we took our tents, or a travel trailor, and they were still fighting about how fast to crank it into postion, and the door not sitting in right etc... it looked like a pain to me, but they really liked it. The new ones should be easier to put up than an old one. We just bought an older moter home, can't wait to camp in it this summer.
Thanks for all the input! I think we will defintely go ahead. Our neighbors have one and can't say enough about it. Hopefully, we can find a nice one within reason.
