Valentine's Day Card question
This is Brendan's first year exchanging Valentines at school (well preschool really) and I have a question. He picked out Spiderman Valentines, do you give everyone a Spiderman Valentine or do you buy separate ones for the girls? I can remember that in school I used to buy two (I think) but mom says I didn't and the boys just got Strawberry Shortcake, Barbie, or whatever. How do you guys all do this? Thanks!
Everyone can have a Spiderman Valentine, IMO. My dds have always received a few "boy" ones, and they don't care. My fourth grade dd wanted to customize hers this year, so we bought two types for boys and girls, but it's not a huge deal. Especially in preschool! (Besides, I LOVE Spidey! LOL)
It was a long time ago, but I know that my ds would not have been caught dead having anything 'girly' go out with his name on it! For us, it was the first go-round of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and then we graduated to NBA Valentines.
Everyone gets the Spiderman. I guess the idea is the valentine represents something the giver likes. My son would think it very stange if he received a Valentine from a girl on a spiderman card.
Christy, everyone can have a spiderman card, but if you read them before you write for whom they are for. You will notice that they are taliored for both boys and girls. Everyone at my DD school knows that she is Bratz crazy she has the Bratz goodie bags as well as cards and the boys in her class accepts them. But preschool I don't think it matters much.
Timmy got spiderman valentines this year too. Everyone gets the same. We don't worry too much about the gender thing. They won't even notice.
I'd just give everyone the spiderman ones. Some girls like spiderman.
both of my girls like spiderman...Hailey even yells...go, go, go (until she can say go spidey go..lol) when we watch the movie. I think everyone should get the design the giver picks out.
Last year everyone got the Hotwheels cards and this year everyone is getting the "scooby dooby doo" cards as my ds calls them. And everyone is my dd's class is getting Disney Princess whether they are girls or boys. She said to me "i don't think the boys want Princess cards" i told her that "it'll be fine".
Ditto everyone else. It doesn't matter.
I don't think it matters either. Most years my kids have just gotten one character card and handed it out to boys and girls. This year we made these: so I made them specifically for each child.
I don't think you need to buy special valentines for the girls. My kids always got a few boy-style valentines and never thought anything of it!
In my DD's class, the teacher asked that we do not write who the Valentines are for on the envelope/card-so everyone will get the same kind from my DD. I guess it is easier to distribute the Valentines.
I always gave Barbie or whatever girlie ones to the boys and I remember getting Spiderman ones or whatever boy ones. I don't think you need to buy a girl kind.
I agree....just give everyone the same. Tink, where did you get those? They are so cute!
Thank you everyone for your input, we're doing his cards together on Sunday evening. We have a busy weekend planned already with his birthday party tomorrow evening.
Tara, they are from familyfun.com. I get the Family Fun magazine and both my older dks loved them. We have Monday off from school so the Valentine's Parties were today and those lollies were a hit! It's really cute to see twenty 5yo kids listening to a story with those stuck in their mouths. Super easy, too! I did 60 in just a couple of hours.
