Who's Having Pancakes??
Anyone else eating pancakes for supper tonight? We will have pancakes and maybe some sausage. I'm not sure if sausage will part of the original Shrove Tuesday but DH doesn't feel like he has eaten dinner unless meat is involved. I am going to give up chocoate for lent this year. I try it every year and have such difficulty. I tease DH and tell him I'm giving up sex but he says that doesn't count b/c he has to be something you enjoy and like often. He's just too funny!
Paula, you're too funny, I don't think I could be pregnant and give up chocolate, now sex that I could probably give up.
No pancakes for supper tonight, but we will be eating fish tomorrow. My youngest dd is giving up chocolate and sodas for Lent.
Pancakes? Who has time for cooking! I had a very busy day today! They sound good, though. My 15yo doesn't like to eat breakfast for supper, though!
I love breakfast foods for dinner! I had french toast last night for dinner. Giving up chocolate would mean no cafe mocha for me. Nope, I couldn't do it.LOL!
Tuna fish sandwiches and tomato soup for dinner tonight
Speaking of pancakes and Shrove Tuesday, YAY for the runners of Liberal, Kansas, who ONCE AGAIN beat the Olney, England runners in the International Pancake Day Race!!!! Woo hoo Kansas!!!!! (can't guess where I'm originally from, LOL)
We sometimes have waffles for dinner. We always have to have bacon or sausage with them. Dh thinks dinner isn't dinner unless there's a meat dish with it. lol Even potato soup has to at least have ham in it. Same with grilled cheese. Have to throw in a slice of ham! (even though it slides all over! rofl)
Pasta with no meatballs for dinner tonight. I love to have breakfast for dinner! Bacon, eggs, toast, yum!
I've never heard of having pancakes on a special day. Never heard of Shrove Tues either. Ash Wednesday, yes, but not Tues. What is the significance of the dinner and Tues?
I love pancakes! AJ
Dana, Shove Tuesday is celebrated the Eve of Ash Wednesday. Traditionally, people gave up dairy, eggs and fats during Lent so Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Tuesday, became a time for people to use up all the leftovers that would not keep during Lent.
how interesting. thanks
