Pain in throat when breathing in
My DD is complaining of a lot of throat pain on the left side of her throat when she breathes in through her mouth or nose. She doesn't have a fever or any other cold symptoms. The pain isn't there constantly like when it's a general sore throat, not on swallowing either. It's bad when she breathes in just a bit heavier than normal breathing. Any ideas of what this could be? TIA!!!
Is she coughing?
Nope, no coughing. No other symptoms at all. It's weird, that's why I'm a bit concerned.
could she have anything lodged there? Is it located in the neck area or down farther?
It's about an inch to the left of and a bit below her adam's apple. She says there is nothing there and it only hurts when she breathes in. I just ca't figure it out!!
How about trying soothing cough drops or cough syrup to coat her throat, or, if she will use it, I have used a throat spray which has a topica anesthetic effect. I don't remember the "name brand", but CVS has a store brand version which is on my bed table at the moment. I know it comes in a couple of different flavors. I have found it really helps when I have a sore throat. Or, tea with a couple of spoons of honey in it to help coat her throat. And, of course, call the pediatrician's office in the morning.
How is your DD today?
If there is something lodged in her throat (which it does not sound like, since she can swallow fine), have her drink some milk. It is said to dislodge stuck things such as fish bones. I had a coke can tab lodge and cut my throat (I am guessing it was that since I had just swallowed from a can and couldn't find it on the can)....and it was sore for a few days. I drank some milk for some reason, and poof! It was gone and the pain was gone immediately.
It seems to be gone today, thanks for asking. When I asked her this morning how her throat was her response to me was, "It's fine today. Don't ask me anymore so it doesn't come back!!" It sure was strange and had me worried all night though!! Hopefully it won't happen again or we're headed to the doctor's office!!
It was probably just a dry throat. I get that sometimes. Glad she's feeling better. Ame
