Valentine's Day Plans?
What are your plans for Valentine's Day? I think that we are staying home, because the restaurants are way too crowded to go out with Rylee. I am ordering Chris a cookie cake and making him his favorite meal. I am even going to buy him 3 red roses.
We don't really do Valentine's Day. we are getting together next Saturday night for a "Valentine's Day dinner" with several couples. I'm sure there will not be any Valentiny stuff there. I do give my kids cards and maybe a little gift but that's it. I wish dh would give me flowers but hasn't done that for quite some time.
Not sure, I think we are going to celebrate it on the Saturday or Sunday before. If we do something we will get a sitter for the kids and the two of us will go to dinner ALONE!!! THe funny thing is when we used to go to dinner just the two of us and we would leave the kids at home we felt like a young couple...driving around in our Passat. Now when we go out it will be obvious we left the kids at home because we will be pulling up in a MINI VAN!!
We don't celebrate it big time, other than my dh will probably bring me flowers. My dh is one of those guys who brings home flowers for no reason other than he thinks it might brighten my day. I won't trade that one in!
The friday night before we are going to a dinner at church for couples only, that should be fun, and then DH's birthday is on the 12th, so I don't really know what we are going to do for the BIG day...probably just be together and do something fun at home.
This year, we decided to do something different. February starts out Valentine's Day - Anniversary - Birthday slam. We put a $ limit on Valentine's Day & have to do something creative for each other. Gonna spend Valentine's Day together on a trail ride & a picnic. The big Valentine's Gift will be together with our anniversary (three weeks) at my favorite bed and breakfast where we are treated like a king and queen. Pampered to no end. It is heaven. So I get my cake & can eat it too!
We're going to DH's Mom's gravesight. He hasn't seen her in quite a few years and she was buried on Valentines Day 13 years ago so it will be special. And he wants his Mom to "meet" me and her granddaughter. It's not romantic but surely something very special. Maybe that night my Mom can watch DD so we can go out to dinner alone or something? We'll see. I'm not making any set plans though because it will be a very emotional day for DH.
We don't really celebrate Valetine's day either. We will spend the evening together, I will cook his favorite meal, and order a cookie cake like you Rayanne, because Jimmy absolutely loves them.
We'll get each other a small gift and have some special time in the evening , but I HATE to go out to eat on Valentine's Day---too crowded. I also would hate if DH got me flowers because they are too overpriced on V-Day and too cliche. Chocolate is another story though. This year will be "really" romantic (insert sarcasm) because DH will be at a Cub Scout meeting with our oldest DS and I have cleft palate clinic at the hospital from 5:30-8:00.
It's a Monday. I don't work at the clinic. I only work at school (1.5 hours). Hubby works from 4pm until 1am, so supper together is out. Maybe we will just go out to eat for lunch somewhere, when I'm done with school. I don't really care if I get a present or not. Chocolate is good, but I really don't need candy hanging around the house. So, lunch sounds really good!
DH will be traveling and away on Valentine's Day, so he said we will celebrate on the weekend. I'll probably make a nice dinner, I really will miss that bottle of wine, oh well next year. One year I sent DH a dozen long stem roses to his office on Valentine's Day - he loved it and every year after his colleagues asked "Hey, where's your roses this year". It made him feel special and made a big impression at his work. I think it's something I might do every 5 years or so just to make it unexpected.
We don't usually get anything for each other. This year however we are getting "the wedge" as a couple gift.
What is the wedge?
Sorry, it's called "the liberator" not the wedge. http://www.liberatorshapes.com/ Warning - sexually explicit site. It looks like fun.
LOL. I think I'd just go for the *stage*.
It's my DD's 16th birthday so we are having a big party on saturday evening for her and probably go out to eat as a family on monday.
