What kind of makeup do you use?
I'm not asking for anyone to promote their business, but I just wanted to know what kind of makeup do you use? I use this Maybelline base, but I'm never satisfied with the base I use. It either comes off on clothes, or doesn't cover my uneven skin. I'm tempted to spend some moola on department store brands. Anyone have any luck?
none usually but when i do i use whatever is on sale lol = ) i'm cheap like that i haven't bought foundation for like years ...usually covergirl i think when i did buy it?
I used to use Estee Lauder because I loved the feel, but I hated to pay for that. So, I started using Loreal, which is an Estee Lauder company - I get the same quality, but a lot cheaper. I've used other brands like Cover Girl, Maybelline, etc., but the smells were too overwhelming for me.
I use Clinique base because it is so light. It is a little pricey, but I don't use it every day, so I have had the same bottle for almost a year now.
I use Clinique as well.
I also use Clinique, I probably buy 2-3 bottles a year but I wear it everyday. I have uneven skin as well. My cheeks and chin are a little rosey and that foundation works great!
Clinique here too!! Just started using it about 2 months ago for many of the same reasons you stated above. Have to say that I have been happy with it so far!!
I've always spent alot of money of foundation. My favorite being the Prescriptives line. But, just recently, a friend started going on and on about this new Maybelline Mousse makeup. I put up such a fight about trying it that she just went out and bought me one. I LOVE IT!!!! It goes on like a breeze and is so light. It doesn't cake, even with a moisturizer underneath. I can't say enough about it! And reasonably priced!
I used to use nothing but Estee Lauder skin care products and makeup, but the cost was staggering. Now I use Bare Escentuals for my face and other stuff for eyes. I actually love Max Factor mascara, and I have so many different liners/shadows, I can't remember them all. I have some Smashbox creme eyeliner that I really love.
I have heard the Estee Lauder and Loreal are one in the same, so if you are looking for a less expensive make-up and good quality try Loreal. I use some of their stuff and I like it. I use Nicole Miller foundation but it is expensive and you can only order it online.
Mary Kay here.
I have always used Cover Girl foundation. And the only other thing I sometimes use is eye shadow which I buy any kind in that.
I use collection 2000 (which is a very cheap brand in the UK but it's not so bad) for traslucent powder, Rimmel for blush (another cheap brand!). A Mexican mascara made from avocado seed (cheap as anything and it lasts for ages, it is also waterproof). And bodyshop lipgloss. My skin is very greasy so after half an hour all my makeup is gone! So why bother?
Ah! Kay, i didn't know Loreal was a Estee Lauder company...it's good to know. At least you don't have to hand in your mortgage to buy a lipstick!
Whatever has been in my makeup bag for a few years. Lancome or Mac maybe??? I wear make up maybe once a week if that. DH likes the "girl next door look" as he calls it so he thinks I look better without makeup or very little on. I've never been a heavy makeup person anyway. But do wear lip gloss everyday.
Clinique citybase, I love it, it is the only stuff that doesn't break me out and it doesn't smell like perfume like other make-ups do. I have wore it for 4 years, and I will never switch again.
I use revlon eye glides. It is a stick that you twist and the make up slides out and you put it on you eye lids.
When i was in Minnesota i used to love all the American make up, there was always so much variety! I was only 16, so of course i bought as much as i could. My favourites were Revlon and Mary Kay. Here in London there is Revlon, but it's not the same, there is harldy anything. Anyway i wouldn't buy as much now as Melissa said i have never been a heavy make up person either.
My mom used Max Factor pancake makeup for years and when I decided about 10 years ago that I really did need to wear makeup, I tried it, and have been using it since. With a litte blush, mascara, and lipstick. I am not a big makeup person, and only since I started this new job have I been wearing makeup 5 days a week and on Sundays if I go to church. But, I do like the Max Factor for ease of application, evenness of coverage, and that I don't look "made up".
I wear Mary Kay for most things, but Almay foundation. I'm looking for a diffferent brand, because I can't seem to find something with even coverage without looking cakey. For those of you who aren't regular makeup wearers, make sure you aren't keeping your stuff too long, germs multiply quickly in makeup. I think it's like 3 months for mascara, 6 months for foundation, just a reminder!
I use Avon.
Mary Kay
Mary Kay here, too.
A little bit of everything, but no high priced department store brands.
I just discovered a wonderful foundation and I will never use anything else again,,,it's called bare minerals, and it's actually a powder, but it goes on so smooth, covers extremely well, and is so light. I ordered it from QVC, I don't think you can buy it in any stores. I also use as a finish powder a product by perscriptives called magic, it has a cooling sensation when you brush it on, and it gives a soft healthy glow to your skin, it's really nice!
Loreal is definitely the most common brand in my makeup case but I love Max Factor's mascara. I'm super happy with the new Loreal foundation, True Match. I have so much pink in my skin and this doesn't look fake at all. I wear makeup everyday, foundation, blush, eyeshadow, mascara and lip gloss.
Makeup, what makeup?
Whatever I find at Big Lots
Foundation. Estee Lauder. They match you skin perfectly. It is worth the money. Also get a power too that matches. Get a lipstick too. They will pick one that looks good on you and you can try it on. Oh and get a gloss too if you like gloss. I don't wear blush anymore. I got enough red in my face. Eyeliner and mascara from the drug store.
Oh the foundation and powder comes off on clothes. Doesn't all of them?
There is a brand of makeup sold like people sale May Kay (maybe locally) called Beauty Control. They have a foundation that is not supposed to come off on clothes called Color Freeze (I think). I haven't used it in a long while simply because of lack of convenience, but I thought I would let you know that some are made to not rub off.
I wear Mary Kay, Estee Lauder and Lancome...
Crystal, and anyone else wanting makeup that is light, not cakey, and, once you get the hang of using powder foundations, has a very smooth, bright look and actually does not feel like you are wearing makeup at all, try Bare Escentuals! NOTE: I do NOT sell it and I am not promoting anyone's business! LOL I just love the stuff. It doesn't break you out, it comes in many colors, especially the blushes, you can get bronzers, etc. and the finishing powder is called Mineral Veil. You have to order it, QVC carries it. Actually I prefer to shop that way! LOL The only thing I use a liquid foundation for now is under my eyes because a powder there is too dry for me.
I just ordered some Bare Escentuals! Stori has been raving about it forever and I am almost out of my Proactiv foundation.
I use netrogena everything. I like their makeup. I only use base, foundation, lip gloss, and concealer when I need it . I use the lipgloss for blush if I need some.
I am about to start using Aveda.
I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, but when I do I usually use Almay. I have sensitive, oily skin and tend to break out easily. I've never tried upscale brands. Can't justify the cost since I don't wear makeup often.
A great site to check out is makeupally.com Look under reviews.
Karen, and others that use it...what is the trick to the Bare Minerals?? I bought some a few months ago and I just can't seem to apply it to look right!! I ended up giving up on it, but I do still have it. I swear no matter how much rubbing and blending I do with that brush, it still just looks like powder sitting on my face!! Also, I have a terrible time with it rubbing off and on my shirt. I thought maybe I was using too much, but I have tried it several times with using less and it still looks the same way!! Help me!!
Vicki, you need to dab the brush in the powder and swirl in around in the top of the container, then blow lightly on the brush before you apply. If you have too much on the brush, it looks cakey and blotchy. Also, if you use a moisturizer on your skin, you have to be careful about evenly applying it, and that it's dry before you start applying the makeup, otherwise, the makeup will concentrate on those spots. Also, I got one blush that is TOTALLY the wrong color for me, and it made me look like a clown, no matter how little I used. It took me a few times to get the hang of it, but now that I have I love it.
Thanks, ladies! I'll have to look into these!!
Well, maybe I'll have to dig it out and try again.... Thanks Karen!
I tried the bare essentials. They said to wet the brush but that didn't work either. It just sat on my face - all you could see was the powder. Maybe I was using too much.
I like Origins because it is not tested on animals, and they use natural ingredients. For instance, their mascara has a vegetable oil in it instead of wax. It washes off nicely, and doesn't give you "racoon eyes". I, too, use some Cover Girl or Avon.
You can order it online at www.origins.com. Also, some of the better department stores carry it. Here, it would be Filene's. Probably Dillards or Macy's elsewhere.
I used to use Clinique and loved it. Now I use Mary K and its just as good.
I use Origins also, love it. Here in Los Angeles we have "Origins stores". My sister in law sells Mary K and I also love their stuff.
I use Chanel foundation with no break outs, etc. I just started with Mary Kay eyeliner and love that too. I'm more into skincare stuff than makeup.
I wear nothing but MAC foundation..i love the stuff (liquid). It is hard to match up African American skin..everything has an orange tint..and darn it Im NOT orange. I love their lipsticks, lipglass and eye shadow..BUT ..I will use anything when it comes to eye make up and lip stuff...as long as its good quality. I hate cheap make up u can always tell.
I use MaxFactor. I love the foundation.
I know this is an old post, but I just hate to shout from the roof tops! LOL I finally broke down and got Bare Minerals!!!! (sephora now sells the kits..probably more expensive than QVC, but i have this thing about testing the colors on me first). I LOVE THIS MAKEUP!!!!!!! I have rosacea and it covers it great!!! It doesn't settle in the lines. This stuff is amazing! I am truly stunned. I would have to wear so much coverup that I looked alot older. I had tried all the high end lines too. This is awesome.
Yay Jann!!!
I recently found a foundation that works really well for me. I've always had trouble because I'm fair with olive undertones, and most fair makeup is very pink. Also, I need full coverage because I have acne and uneven skin tone. Cover Girl TrueBlends is really good, inexpensive, and it matches better than anything else I've found. I'm still interested in the Bare Minerals, I'll have to hunt it down next time I get to a Sephora.
