today? It hasn't started here in NE PA yet, but we have a winter storm warning up. We are suppose to get 20 inches where I am at.
Then blizzard conditions tomorrow:)
Good weekend to stay home and relax.
Have a good weekend all:)

By Sunny on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 10:34 am:

It started snowing in SE PA around 10am. I'm not sure how much the forecaster are predicting we'll get - last I heard it was 8 to 12 inches, but it's supposed to snow all day.
It's heading your way! :)

By Karen~moderator on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 10:38 am:

I've just bene reading about all the weather everyone north of us is getting. First - I hope everyone is safe and warm. And Second - I WANT TO SEE PICS!

By Colette on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 10:39 am:

there's a thread on the parenting board about this storm.

By Maddysmommy on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 10:51 am:

good old pa snow storms.......lol....i am in southern pa and the snow started at 9:45 am and they are calling for 12 to 17 here. i guess we can't complain we have only had about 3 inches so far this winter..:)

By Babysitbarb on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 11:12 am:

we've got it here in Indiana. I was hoping we would but, we did. Im not sure how much we did get but, more than an inch is to much for me. Im hoping for spring. Sorry to all you snow bunnies who like this stuff.

By Babysitbarb on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 11:13 am:

I meant hoping we wouldn't. sorry!

By Kernkate on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 11:27 am:

The snow started falling here at 11 and its coming down pretty good. Karen I am sure we all will have some great pics of this storm.
I just hate the blizzard condition. And it being so bitter the kids can't even go out and enjoy the snow. The temp here is -1 and I could just imagine what the windchill is.
I would love to go out on the snowmobiles but its to cold to enjoy that.
Stay safe and warm and watch the backs while shoveling!!!

By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 11:34 am:

Started in Philadelphia about 10:00 a.m. 6-12 inches predicted with blizzard conditions, ending in time for the Eagles/Falcons playoff game.

By Pamt on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 11:51 am:

We're not, but we are having some CRAZY weather!!! I woke up to 65 degrees and our high should be 72 today, but then down to 29 tonight! We're going from balmy to hard freeze in 24 hours and from a/c to heat. And I wonder why people's immune systems are haywire and my skin is oily and very dry and flaky all at the same time. Ugh!

Stay safe and warm all of you Yanks and Midwesterners! :)

By Sue3 on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 12:42 pm:

we have blizzard conditions here where I am.My DD`s dance was cancelled as was my Dd`s basketball game ,and DD`s best friends birthday party .
When the snow stops ,around six I guess , then the wind is suppose to really pick up and it`s going to get really really cold.
I staying inside and catching up on house work and am going to do some baking !

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 12:42 pm:

Has been snowing since yesterday. We had snowflurries all day yesterday, but not enough to amount to anything. The big storm started around 7pm last night and it's STILL snowing! I think we have gotten about 8-9 inches. It's also windy and drifting, too.

By Trisa on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 12:44 pm:

IM in Pa and we are to get hammered this afternoon. IM in lancaster county
and we are to get up to 16 inch!

By Trisa on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 12:48 pm:

Kathy where are you in Pa?
OK if you would rather not say.
IM in Lancaster county.
we are to get alot of snow as well.
I asked for it. but not this much!

By Debbie on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 12:57 pm:

It started snowing here yesterday evening. We have about 8-10 inches on the ground and it is continuing to snow. We are suppose to get another couple inches before it stops. The bad part is that we have high winds, so the snow is really blowing.

By Kernkate on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 01:11 pm:

Trisa I am about 20 miles from Scranton. Probably about 3 hours from you.
My SIL is probably down by you she is in Lebanon.
We are suppose to get really hit between 3 and 6 this afternoon.
Get out the shovels!!

By My2cuties on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 07:41 pm:

we got snow...or I guess you could call it that...or maybe you would call is dusting.:( Looks like no snowman this time either. I can always hope for next snow. :)

By Colette on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 07:59 pm:

Governor Mitt, has called a state of emergency and is calling in the National Guard.

I am not quite sure what the National Guard is supposed to do. Plow?

At any rate it is DUMPING out and they are saying this is one of the 5 worst storms in history for Massachusetts.

By Jayne2 on Saturday, January 22, 2005 - 10:35 pm:

Hey girls! We're in Southern NJ and we have about 10 inches or so. What mess...they called for a state of emergency from 8 pm until 8 am tomorrow. We did go sledding today and will try to go again tomorrow if we can get out of the driveway. It was a blast! Stay warm and...GO EAGLES!!

By Kernkate on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 08:33 am:

Well it stopped snowing around 6a.m. or at least I think it did with the wind and drifting its hard to tell:) We received 12 inches but now we are having blizzard conditions. The snow drifts are unreal!
All thats on the roads around here are snowmobiles.
I got called to work today bartending for my friend. She gets really busy in this weather, tons of sleds.
So I will work 11-6 and its right next store to my house so easy to get to if the wind doesn't blow me away!! Nice extra money.
Have a safe day and happy shoveling:)

By Peggy13 on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 08:33 am:

In Northern NJ, we got about 12 inches with more to come today - now the shoveling begins!!

By Colette on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 08:37 am:

still snowing like crazy. We have at least 2ft. Blizzard warning til 6p. Roads are closed. Hurricane/tropical storm force winds.

wow!

By Ginny~moderator on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 08:38 am:

Collette, the National Guard plows, and does a lot of rescue of people snowed in and can't shovel out, especially elderly. They've got the heavyweight vehicles that can go through almost everything.

In SE PA we had about 12 inches, it stopped for a while, and is now snowing lightly, but is supposed to stop soon (can't have snow for the Eagles/Falcons game, after all). My street was plowed around 4:00 a.m. (I happened to be up) and less than an inch accumulated after that. And, some good fairy with a snowblower came down our street and cleared the sidewalks from one corner to the other (including my 70+ feet of sidewalk). That, plus parking both cars in the driveway, made shoveling out much easier this morning.

By Colette on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 10:24 am:

Yes, I found out the national guard is actually using Hummers to take doctors and nurses to work because no one can get anywhere. They've got firefighters and police officers driving snowplows to give the plow drivers a break.

There is a hip high drift at the end of my driveway. We are still supposed to get another foot, and they are saying it's actually going to get worse before it gets better.

By Ginny~moderator on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 11:55 am:

I see you are in Massachusetts, Colette, and yes, I can believe it may get worse before it gets better. As bad as it is here (mostly because most drivers in this area tend to think of snow as just wet streets and drive like idiots), it has got to be worse up by you. I've shoveled out hip high snowplow drifts a couple of times and it is no fun at all. (Especially if the plows come by again after you've cleared the drift!)

Personally, I hate winter and I hate snow, and you have as much sympathy as I can spare from feeling sorry for myself.

By Debbie on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 02:18 pm:

Oh Ginny, I can totally relate. This ex-Texas girl does not like all this snow. Actually, the snow isn't so bad, it is the cold and wind that gets me. We got 13.5 inches here. It stopped snowing around 5pm yesterday, but the winds were so strong that it was white out conditions. Today it is just beautiful. The sun is out and there is no wind. We took to boys out sledding this morning. At least, they love it

By Jelygu on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 02:54 pm:

All we got were a few flurries. There was a little on my back deck and the cars when I woke up this morning... LOL! It stopped by 9:00 this morning though.
