What kind of monitor do you have?

Our monitor broke the week before Christmas and we've been using the old, dinosaur one since. It is time to get a new one! My son wants better resolution and I'd just like to have a decent picture. :)

We went looking yesterday (we needed to pick up a new keyboard) and will probably be going back today to buy. We've decided on a Viewsonic 17" LCD flat-panel - can't afford anything bigger. Just curious what everyone else has.

I think we have one. We don't use it anymore since the desktop died and we got a wide screen laptop. The monitor was great! BJs usually has monitors at good prices. I think we got ours there.

We bought a 17 inch flat screen monitor at Wal Mart, and it's great! It's a KDS radius monitor, and I just love how little space it takes!

I have a 17" ViewSonic PF775. PF stands for perfectly flat. The screen itself is flat, but it's not a flat panel. I wish I had a flat panel one, though, since it would take up a lot less room on my small desk.

Sunny, we're researching computers because we hope to build a great gaming machine over the next year (purchase a part or two every month). According to what I've read, if you want a moniter for gaming, an old fashioned CRT moniter is best. LCD's colours aren't up to the quality of a CRT yet. Flat screen CRT's are okay but you need to apy attention to the edge of the screen as cheaper ones will have distortion there.

PC Gamer reccomends a not getting a 17" as it's too small or a 24" becuase it's too big.

All this depend on what you'll be using the computer for though. If it's not gaming where detail is king then none of this info is all that relevent. :)
