Clomid
I know that I have heard some of you talk about this...my friend is going to start this in a few weeks. She and her husband just went to the doctor and had fertility tests done, and they turned out normal, so he is putting her on this in a few months. Any info that would be valuable to her would be great, I am sure she has knowledge on this but I wonder how many here have tried it and were sucessful. thanks girls.
We conceived our first child while I was taking Clomid. It took a few months of stronger and stronger dosages and the side effects bothered me to the point that we decided that I wouldn't take it ever again even if it meant that we would not be able to have a second child. Fortunately for us, we conceived naturally, and unexpectedly, with our second child. Good luck to your friend!
My sister in law has twins because of this = ) = )
I have an old friend with 4 kids due to taking Clomid. She tried for a long time to get Pg and took Clomid with the 1st and 2nd, I belive the last 2 just happened *naturally*... I don't remember her suffering any *ill* effects while taking it.
I took it to get pg with my dd. I had to take it two months. I got pg on 100mg. The side effects for me were nausea, mood swings, hot flashes, and headaches. It was worth every second though. One thing that can be aggravating is having to time everything. For me the schedule was taking clomid days 3-7, go get an ultasound on day 12 to see if there are mature follicles, have sex every other day days 10-16, and get a progesterone test done on day 21. I did try to get pg again a few months ago. I was on it for three months this time and nothing happened so the dr told us we would need to do an HSG and IUI (both together are about $1200). We opted not to do it, and now are very glad we have an only child. Tell your friend good luck. I know the absolute hardest thing is to go through all of that and then start your period. Just be there for her.
I took it several times. It never worked for me. I had secondary infertility for two years. I finally was dx with PCOS and got pg (without even having a cycle- I o'ed on day 62!) on Glucophage. Infertility is not fun. This is the first step in a long line of possible treatments though. And, yes, I did have lots of side effects. I felt like I was "reved up" on hormones- PMS out of control. It was difficult driving too.
I took Clomid off an on for about 2 years...off because I had surgeries for severe endometriosis during that same time frame and I was on a host of other drugs that were meant to stop my ovulation. I didn't get pg until the month AFTER I stopped taking Clomid...this apparently occurs quite regularly in women with endo.
