Which Holidays Do You Decorate For?
Cat's Valentine post made me think of this. Which holidays do you decorate for? I go all out for Christmas. I don't care to decorate too much for Halloween (just canNOT get excited about an orange/brown/black color scheme) but I do have more items than I would like for this holiday. Most of it was bought by my sisters and mom so I would be forced to decorate for my kids. I, personally, did buy an outdoor scarecrow. My family also bought me several Easter things but I rarely put them out. And that's all. So I decorate majorly for Christmas, a little bit for Halloween, and that's really all. How about you?
Christmas and Easter, but I wanted to start decorating more for all holidays. Right now I have a display of snowmen that I'll leave out through Feb....and a snowman doormat and flag. I have a table in my living room that is perfect for seasonal decorative knick-knacks and I'd like to have a flag, mat, and something to hang on the door for each holiday/season. I also plan on quilting a lot of small seasonal wall hangings and table runners now that I'm wrapping up a big quilt project that has kept me occupied for a long time.
Usually I just do a little for Halloween, Fall/Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was at Joann's tonight for something else and thought, *ya know, Christmas gets all the attention. No fair!* So I got the Valentine hanger (had the window clings from after Valentine's Day last year, so they've never been used) and I also got an Easter door hanger. I do have a little wooden bunny that I put up for Easter, when I remember. I'll probably find something for July 4th this year, too. I ordered crafts from Oriential Trading CO for all the major holidays this year for daycare. The kids will love them!
I decorate some for Valentine's, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Independence Day, Fall, and Christmas.
I have the cutest bear that usually hangs on my door (he is need of a repair right now). Anyway, brown wooden bear, arms and legs jointed with rope ties. Says welcome between his arms. Anyway, he has outfits. I love this bear. I have the following outfits, christmas, halloween, birthday, spring, valentines, st patricks, Aggie, pilgrim, snowsuit, hmmm something else that I can't recall. Other than that I don't really decorate. I sometimes change the centerpiece on my dining room table. It is a glass cylindrical candle holder that you can fill. So for halloween I put candy corns in it and use an orange candle. I get tired of messing with new candles though, so I don't always!
Christmas is the only holiday we go all out for. We have a few cute heart things that come out for Valentines, but nothing major. We have a few halloween things, but I really don't like halloween all that much so I usually don't pull everything out. I like to decorate for the seasons. I love to decorate for spring-time. We also have some really pretty stuff for fall. For winter I have some snowbuddies that I display along with some blue/white placemats and napkins. We don't do much for summer. I like to have fresh flowers on the table throughout the summer.
Breann and I decorate similarly. I decorate more according to seasons than holidays, except for Christmas, and even then I do a lot of snowmen and snowflakes. I really enjoy decorating for fall. I do a little for spring and summer, mostly flowers or a flag.
I do Fall, Christmas, and Easter. I have one Valentine decoration that I made in a moms group last year. Summmer I don't change much inside but work on the outside. We still have not had snow here yet. In fact Wed its to be 58 outside. Just weird for this time of year. I don't wan't 3 ft of snow but enough to play outside with the kids would be nice.
I have window clings for Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. So i put those up on the kids bedroom windows and a few in the main floor of the house. I have a bunch of Christmas decorations but hardly any other decorations for the other holidays.
Okay, then what exactly are your 'seasonal' decorations? Someone said snowmen are their winter decorations. I never thought about decorating seasonally. Hmmm..... I have a ton of snowmen things, but I only put them out at Christmas and equate them only with Christmas. Do others use snowmen all winter long? Intriguing...
I go all out for Christmas and Halloween. My boys love Halloween, so I have been decorating a lot lately. We do a kind of haunted house in the front entry way and then decorate the yard. I also have some Valentines day and Easter stuff that I put out, but not alot.
Christmas is the biggy! A little decoration here and there for Easter. The odd item for Halloween.
I decorate for every Holiday except St. Patricks Day. Don't knwo why but I tell myself every year when I'm out in the store St. Patty's Day is comign to pick up decorations for soem reason seem to forget but always remember the next tiem in in the store and se ethe SPD decorations on sale. I think its because I've never found nor seen anythign that has caught my eye in green. But all the others I put up the deco for the kids.
