Wednesday Weigh In (Restart)
Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): Wednesday Weigh In (Restart)
Ok, so I'm back to Wednesday weigh ins. Good news to report today! I now weigh 150.6! Dh said I looked thinner as well as more toned. The jeans I am wearing are fitting a bit loose. I've kept up with my cycling machine and I've even done some exercise on the elliptical machine. I do about an hour of cycling and I go about 1/4 of a mile on the elliptical. I alternate the days that I do them. Now I want to go back to strength training. We'll see how things go.
No Wednesday weigh in today.
Still hovering around 150. Yay! And this is after a big family reunion where there was really GREAT food! I have been slacking on the exercise, I'll admit. I think that portion control and what I eat are helping me stay at 150 at this point. Time to jumpstart my workouts and lose those pounds!
149 yesterday morning. Then we went out for dinner last night, had a burger and fries. Don't want to look at the scale today! lol I resolve to get back to cycling and the elliptical!
Continuing with the elliptical. I've been able to go 15 minutes and almost a mile with 5 levels of variation. Still watching what I eat and watching the portions. My next step now is watching when I eat. I've tried to not eat past 7pm. All is still paying off, as I'm still hovering around 149.
Doing good! So true that little changes help in the long run without any pain. I think I am going to have to start swimming again as I had sun stroke a few weeks ago.
Feona, How's the swimming coming along?
Swimming inspiration!!! Until I read this I didn't realize I could swim after or before my son's swim class every Monday. You guys help even when you're not trying. Linda
Takes alot of time to swim. I guess I don't have the time. Takes 30 minutes to get over there to the pool, then 30 minutes to swim, then 45 minutes to shower and get back home. It is cooler now so I think I will walk again. Eric gave me a cold so I am sitting around now. Swimming is great. I used to swim twice a week for exercise for at least ten years. You can't hurt yourself and it is great for your back and loosing up your joints.
I probably wouldn't have put it on the list either but its one of the homeschool phys ed classes I can fit in for our fifth grader and this other open swim is bookended against that class. Sorry to hear about Eric. Seems like many people are sick up here too. Back to the swimming, sounds like you really liked it, might be worth it to carve out a swim.
Feona, bummer about the swimming. You know, belly-dancing is easy on the joints. Shimmy's work you legs and the veil works your arms. Interested?
Do you do it? Sounds exhausting. (I have a cold)
I just read that being a few pounds over weight isn't so bad for you. I have to find the article now. Definitely being 20 pounds over ideal weight has no health effects. (actually it probably is good for you if you think about it.) If you get sick and you are ideal weight you can get too low very fast. Being too skinny is definitely bad for you and looks bad too. (oh my goodness, I feel like I am unamerica or something.) Here is the link. Weight myths. http://www.healthyweightnetwork.com/5myths.pdf So the real reason we want to be 125 pounds is because we will look hot. Oh well sounds good to me.
The lowest death rate according to the latest federal research is within the “overweight” range (BMI of 25 to 29.9) and up to BMI 35.
http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ calculate your bmi So at 5 foot 3 and 140 pounds my bmi is just about 25. (Ideally I always think my idea weight is 125, but I can't eat much to keep that weight and I don't want to eat that little either.)
Yes, Feona, I bellydance. I picked it up a couple of years ago. I would say my level is a 1st level intermediate. I love the dance, I love the music, love the expression, not really loving the revealing outfits so I know I will probably not perform. I just dance at home. As far as my own weight, I could live with a range between 125-129 lbs. I'm 5'3.5", 149lbs.
My husband would love it if I learned to belly dance. I don't think I am limber enough to do it well. I love to ballroom dance though. Not quite as sexy but it is good exercise.
Is there dance up there? Maybe country dance. I know people who go once a week. They say it is fun.
There is about an hour from us in any direction. Especially if you include square dancing. Now that is good exercise. Its planning for us. WE have to be determined to go.
Well if you both like it that isn't bad.
So, who's been dancin'? This week is not a good weigh in week. My pants are fitting snug and I don't need the scale to tell me that I'm retaining water. I feel blah.
GREAT NEWS! I've been hovering around 149 lbs., and then last week, I was 148.6. Today, the scales said 146.2! Boy was I shocked. I even double checked. I feel so awesome! With the holidays coming up, I'm going to try my best to stay at this weight. Elliptical machine here I come! How is everyone else?
Great news for you!!!!!! For me - no exercise equals no results. I have got to get out of my car!!!!!! I did ride my new bike Saturday for the first time since I bought it in August. It was a really nice day, felt like it might be the last one of the season. Was fine on flat surfaces.
ok, that last post was a fluke. The day after I posted, I was down to 145. I knew there had to be something wrong. To make a long story short, there was and now it's fixed. So now, I weigh in at 147 and I've been there for about a week and a half. Not too bad, though. Still hanging in there! Anyone else? Linda? Any more bike riding?
No, but I did go swimming - twice no less. My youngest loves to swim now so I join him whenever a pool presents itself.
Yay, Linda! I hear swimming is one of the best exercises.
Not a good week for weigh in.
You're willingness to keep on checking in has been encouraging to me. I have walked more and gone swimming because of your vigilance. Don't give up.
Linda, that's great! I've been sneaking some Halloween candy and I had a slice of lemon cheesecake on Thanksgiving. I wonder how long it will take to burn those calories?
