Body For Life
Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): Body For Life
Dh and I are going to do the Body for Life program. We went out today and bought a weight bench and some dumbells AND a treadmill. The only problem is that we bought the treadmill already assembled (DH thought that was great because he tends to hide from any projects that require a screw driver LOL) and it won't fit through our bedroom door. :-( It is sooo very heavy that I can't help him get it downstairs to the basement. Tomorrow he is going to ask the neighbor if he would come over and help him get it down. Dh asked me if getting fit is really worth all this trouble????
You tell him yes it is worth all that trouble to you.And you make sure you do great on the program and prove to him how important it is!Good luck to you...
Tammie I am 'officially' starting this program tomorrow morning. We'll have to keep up on each others progress! I kind of started it last week. Needed to finish reading the book first. Then I got the Eating for Life cookbook. Do you think you will use the Myoplex shakes??? Good luck to you both!
I am going to go to GNC today and look at the Myoplex Shakes. I'll let you know what I decide..how about you? Are you doing this at home or at a gym? I am wondering how many various weight dumbbells I should have..right now I just a few that are VERY light. Have you taken a before picture of yourself yet? I am more than a little scared to do that eventhough we do have a digital so no one else has to see it...I'm not sure I want to see it!!!
NO!! I have not taken a before picture! LOL I too am scared to do that. I thought about having my ds take one for me on the digital--then I thought that might traumatize him too much. I dont even know where to buy the shakes. You said they have them at GNC? I will check there too. If they are pretty reasonably priced my dh says I should use them. He has been drinking a meal replacement shake every day for lunch after he works out. They sell them at the gym we use. He said he likes those shakes and thinks I should use the shakes that Bill recommends. My dh isnt doing the program--he just automatically works out everyday on his lunch and has for yrs now. Yes, I will work out at the gym. I was wishing when I was at the gym this morning that I could work out at home tho! lol I have to pay for childcare at the gym, gas to the gym 6 days a week, and sometimes it can be pretty crowded! Oh well... I am not going to make any excuses! BTW, I have already blown the diet today! Guess what I didnt do?! I didnt PLAN my meals for today! So, I will go make a menu for the week right NOW!!!!! I dont think you need to worry about heavier weights for right now. Probably could 'build up' to it. Buy some more in a couple of weeks. You can always call that number in the book and ask them what they think though! I used mostly 5 and 10 lb dumbells this morning, 20lb barbell, and then 3 machines weights ranged from 25lbs-45lbs. This was my upper body day. I was pooped and arms were shaking. Weakling here!
Arms shaking is a GOOD thing it means that you reached muscle exhaustion....the equivilant of a 10 in Bill speak. I did my aerobics this morning...20 minutes using the BFL interval system. I even did my last minute running (something I would NOT do at a gym). I haven't gone to GNC yet to check out the prices but I did find this online I'm not sure if GNC prices are similar or not but this is $36.95 for 20 packets. http://www.maxlabs.com/ad/index50.cfm?keyword=myoplex
Well, how are you doing Mommyof4? I had to go to the gym at 5:30 this morning and get back home in time to watch my nephew (18mos) for my sis. Just had time to do lower body. I did plan todays meals. Doing good so far... HAving the meals planned is so nice! For dinner last night I made a chicken sand recipe out of the eating for life cookbook. It was GREAT!!! I am excited to try the recipes now. Hope you are having a good day!!
