10,000 Steps, and using a pedometer
Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): 10,000 Steps, and using a pedometer
I bought a pedometer today, and I'm just testing it out today to see how many steps I walk at work this afternoon. I'm not sure that it is accurately set, I'll do that when I get home from work. Do any of you use a pedometer? How reasonable is the goal of 10K steps a day, I've seen that mentioned online for weight loss. My goal is to double my daily steps by spending more time out on the floor with my employees (this improves my step count and helps me as a manager), parking further from the door when I'm out, and taking an evening walk, if not every day then just days I don't go to the gym. Any other suggestions??
I've used a pedometer before. I don't remember ever reaching 10,000 steps by just running errands and parking further, etc. What I found was that unless you already do a lot of walking around during the day, you really have to do something extra. Unfortunately, this wasn't working for me so I quit and found something else. What I would suggest is starting with a baseline, just like you are, and then increasing it from there. I would also suggest making your goals very specific. Good luck. Let us know how this works out for you.
Well, in just over 4 hours, from the time I got back from lunch to the time I got home, I walked over 5,000 steps. I guess I do more running around than I realized!! I'll keep you posted on the progress.
great job ...i was using a pedometer but i got to like 8,000 and the stupid thing reset on me and my friend laughed about it i was like that isn't funny lol = ) also i was really anal about posting the results and my husband said something and i said forget it...= ( oh well i don't know how many steps i walk but it's quite abit lol i walk around at my work all day but obviously not enough to lose the weight = (
