Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): Thursday
By Enchens on Thursday, November 29, 2007 - 07:50 pm:

I miss my class. I'm going to actually do about a half hour of dance in a few minutes and add some 100 jumping jacks for cardio. I've done 50 so far so I would still need 100 more. I'll post later with results.

Good for you Nancy. Let us know how it goes.

I did do pilates today!! I have gained 6 lbs since I hurt my foot in August. I have got to start doing something, I would like to loose it by Christmas. On Monday, I went for my 2nd opinion on my foot. It was good and bad news. Good news is no surgery. The 1st doctor totally misdiagnosed me. I do not have anything wrong with the tendon. I have plantar fasciitis. It is when the fibrous tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot gets inflamed/over stretched. The bad news is that it can take up to a year to heal. I have to do stretching exercises several times a day. I can do no weight bearing exercise until it heals, so no walking, running, aerobics, etc. I can do the elliptical and spinning, so I am going to join the gym right by our house next week.

How is everyone else doing, Brandy, Tink, Crystal?

I did about 20 jumping jacks and a few leg lifts but my eating was terrible = (

Debbie, no surgery IS good news! My husband had plantar fasciitis. He would ice it a lot and do the stretching. He did say that if it's not taken care of in the beginning, it can take a long time to heal. So please take care of yourself.

Brandy, glad you were able to get some jacks in.

I got all 250 jacks in. I highly recommend breaking them up unless you've done lots of cardio. My max was fifty at a time. And you do start feeling the burn in your legs. Wow!

Anyway, here's another tidbit I ran across. Doing 10 minutes of continuous jump rope, at a good pace, is the same as a 30 minute aerobic workout. So if you ever find yourself in a time crunch, maybe this would be an option. Again, this is a tough one. I'm actually only able to do about 3 minutes of continuous jump rope before my body screams to me to stop. Maybe I'm waaay outta shape?

How did everyone else do?

I'm going to the gym tonight, and doing another 45 minutes of cardio. I've decided to get a pedometer, to see how much walking I do running around my building.

By Tink on Friday, November 30, 2007 - 04:10 pm:

I tried doing jumping jacks and my ankle isn't holding up yet so I'm going to have to back out of that. I walked a mile this afternoon and will walk a mile with the kids after school. I didn't do well with my eating at lunch but I have a healthy snack and dinner planned.

Crystal, the pedometer is a great idea. I thought I ran all day long but found out that I was only averaging about 6,000 steps. Rob wore it to work for a week and walked over 17,000 steps per day. No wonder he's underweight!
