Diaper rash after eating fruits with Vit C

My ds is almost 2. He LOVES to eat. I try giving him a variety of foods, fruits and veggies included. Problem is that if he eats things high in Vit C, he develops a rash on his little bottom. Did anyone else have a child where this happened as well? What did you do? For now, I try to stay away from the fresh strawberries and oranges, etc. But he sees us eating them and he wants some. Poor baby. I don't want to deny him fruits. I want his bottom to have a rash even less. TIA
When DS was little I had to limit his daily fruit intake or he would get diarrhea and diaper rash. Through trial and error I figured out he could have 1 apple OR 10 grapes in one day (for example) and do fine, but if he had more fruit than that we'd be asking for trouble! Thank goodness he grew out of it, because he loves fruit.
Ditto Trina-My guys all get the citrous(sp) rash.I have to also limit and dilute everything.I use an antifungal cream and a cream with a barrier mixed and it clears it right up.
It took me a minute to figure out what was causing my sons terrible rashs to the point that they would bleed a little, but it was Lemonade juice of all things, he had some and then didn't have any for a while and later when I got some more gave him some, I was changing him one day and made noticed he had rashs again. I forced myself to think what had he had recently and relieze that it was the lemonade soda. Stopped giving it to him he was fine. He isn't in diapers anymore and uses the bathroom but I have not tried to give it to him still scared to he will get a rash. But I also used an anti fungal cream( Lotromin works well) yes the one for athlete's foot. Hope they get better soon.
My DS gets a terrible rash from oranges...the sad thing is that he loves them. He doesn't drink OJ (it makes his reflux worse)so I don't know if that bothers him. We still give him oranges, just in small quantities and infrequently and he does okay. So far strawberries are okay. My nephew can't drink OJ for the same reason. We try not to have a lot in the house and when we do we try to eat it when he's not watching us- or we eat our portion very quickly so he doesn't realize how little he's getting. I hope your ds feels better!
