Fussy Teething Baby--what can I do for him?
Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Fussy Teething Baby--what can I do for him?
Mason is getting more teeth! This time on top. He's been so cranky this time around. He is having cold like symptoms that come and go and is not wanting much to do with food. I try everything, but I'm getting tired. He's not sleeping well to boot. I've tried Tylenol, the orajel sticks, Pediacare for the nose, cold items to chew on. He just arches his back and doesn't want anything to do with anything I have to offer. I'm going to have DH pick up some Hylands teething tablets on the way home. I'm ready for anything to help--the little guy is so unhappy.
No help from me, sounds like you are doing everything that we are doing. Cameron seems to have a stuffy nose as well and he has this sad little sick cry that breaks my heart. I think there was a post from Sandy that said Pediapops were working for her, I haven't tried them though. I do give Cameron cold, cold water from the fridge in a Nuby cup, he seems to like that for a few seconds anyway. Let me know if you come up with anything that works!
Thank you, thank you! I'll have to remember Pediapops. I've never tried them. DS seems to be more miserable from his teeth. In fact, today his nose didn't even run. So, it may just be all teeth and no cold. I'm stumped. He loves ice water too. Wow, no other advice? I'm bummed. We lost power all night and I couldn't wait to see what tips you had for me. My poor little man is so unhappy. I guess I'll see if I can take him to see his Ped. tomorrow.
Can you give him some Motrin before bed it will help with the pain/inflamation.My guys are never really that bad(knock on wood).I use gripe water when they are fussy. They seem to get an upset tummy when they teethe.((HUGS))
No advice, other than what you already have tried. I used the Orajel Night time like crazy with both of mine. I don't know if it is a little stronger, or what. It was in a tube, and I used it very liberally. I also gave them Motrin a couple times a day when they were having their worst days. Motrin is for inflammation and sometimes works better than tylenol. Also, are you positive he isn't having problems with gas? I used Mylecon drops every day with mine, and for awhile, the doctor had me use them every feeding. I was amazed at the difference. If he is crying and fussing a lot, he could be sucking in a lot of air giving him a bellyache, too... Good luck!
Motrin should help with the pain/inflamation as Sherri said. That is what we used and it did help. Pedialyte pops really helped my little dd. I feel for you, little dd was sooooo miserable for a few days. (((((hugs to you & Mason))))
Eve, how is Mason today?
